The Society of Jesus, known as the Jesuits, are known for their pursuit of academic excellence. Fu Jen University is a Catholic university; it is one of Taiwan's largest private universities and has led research in many areas. The standard of teaching is outstanding. Fu Ren is a private university and students are required to pay fees but students and their families think that Fu Jen is worth the money.

I have been coming to Taiwan for several years, and have recently been staying in the Xinzhuang district, the hotels and restaurants are cheaper than central Taipei, and the quality is very good. The Xinzhuang sports complex is a great asset to the area, it has a newly completed swimming pool complex and running track, situated within a very nice park area. I tend to do a lot of jogging and swimming when I'm working in Taipei to help burn off the huge amount of food I manage to consume when I am here :) so the area is perfect for me. There is also a newly developed 'creek' (which used to be a municipal drain or something) which extends about 2km from the NW corner of the park, which is also good for running and walking. There is also a gymnasium, tennis courts and basketball facilities, as well as free outdoor gyms and children's playgrounds...

The hiking path was nice and easy to walk. There are 2 main water falls. One just walk to the end and can see the entire water falls from the top. Another fall is bigger, but the path is a little steep. This one is a very tall falls which you can watch it from the middle with a view tower. Great place to enjoy fresh air away from city. There is a food stand shop in the middle of the path which is great place fir a simple lunch.

Those of us with long memories will recall the long bus ride to Fu Da from downtown Taipei. Thanks to the ever-expanding Taipei MRT, it now takes less than half an hour on the Xin Zhuang (Yellow) line. It's only a 10-minute walk to the Fu Da campus, it's easy to find. The station is clean and bright, it's only crowded at rush-hours.

The main god worshipped at Xinzhuang Wesheng Temple is Guan Yu. Guan Yu is usually portrayed with a red face. Guan Yu was a real person, he was a famous general and is one of the main protagonists in the classic Chinese novel, The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Guan Yu is renowned for being loyal and righteous. He is worshipped as the God of Business, as well as the God of War. The temple is a national historic site, it is among the oldest temples in northern Taiwan and dates back 240 years. A copper sensor is 500 years old. The Xinzhang Wushang Temple will interest those who seek to understand traditional Chinese belief systems.
