- TravellerMan72Oslo, Norway1 419 contributionsWe took a tour to Larvik only to see this wonderful forest while driving from the south of Norway.
This beautiful forest is the world’s northernmost beech tree forest that stretches inwards along Farris Lake in Larvik and protected by the Norwegian Nature Diversity Act in 1980.
Even on Fall, it still looks stunning with clean and fresh air. Good for hiking, jogging, picnic or just a walk. I would love to visit it again, probably on Summer.Written 24 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The name Mølen, mentioned in the saga in 1207, comes from the Norse mol, which means stone embankment or stone embankment. There are a total of 230 burial mounds in the area and one of them has been radiologically dated to the period 30-250 AD.
Mølen is also one of Norway's most important bird migration locations, so here you can take pictures and see lots of beautiful birds.-)
it is well suited for motorhomes in the car park at this location otherwise there are good campsites nearbyWritten 13 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Check in and boarding went smoothly and once on board we found our seats in the Voyager Class lounge before exploring the ferry.
The ferry had a good amount of facilities and was ideal for the 3.5 hour journey to Norway. We spent a lot of the time outside on deck as the weather was nice on the crossing.
The Superspeed services are slightly quicker than conventional ferries and we found the journey to be very smooth with arrival into Larvik on schedule. We definitely would use the Superspeed service again.Written 12 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tower gives a 360 degree view of Larvik harbour and town...and has a small park at the base of it with picnic tables.Written 12 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ove Borgersen - Norwegian_pics_natureLier Municipality, Norway13 contributionsthe area has beautiful beaches, lovely rock formations, great hiking opportunities that are well marked, and generally great coastal culture. For those with a boat, in the summer there is a kiosk and great camping opportunities in Ula.
Ulasis facing the Skagerrak at the far end of Torsøyhalvøya in Larvik municipality. The origin is the Norse word urd, which means "clock", "stone clock". In the 19th century, Ula was a well-known port where, among other things, the pilot Ulabrand worked.
Anders Jacob Johansen, known as Ulabrand, was a famous boat pilot living in Ula in Vestfold. He served as a pilot in Ula from approx. 1850 until he died in an autumn storm in 1881 when his pilot boat sank in the open sea south of Tjøme for no known reason.Written 15 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - History Bites Tours15 contributionsThis is a beautiful historic site. Our guide Trond kindly showed us around the home, taking us through the rooms and backyard Thor Heyerdahl spent much time in as a child. The home retains the decor and many original artifacts from the time period during which Heyerdahl grew up.

We visited Tollerodden, the birthplace of Colin Archer who was a Norwegian naval architect and shipbuilder. He was known for building rescue boats, sailing and polar ships. The most famous ship he built was the Fram which was used on Fridtjof Nansen's and Roald Amundsen's polar expeditions. It was nice to see the house in Tollerodden which has been well restored and is in a very nice setting close to the centre of Larvik.Written 12 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
