- John_C_LdnLondon, UK368 contributionsA great gondola ride up to the Alpi di Siusi area. There is good multi-storey parking on site - very reasonably priced too - rare for Italy! There is a variety of good walks from the top station. The circular route we took (going clockwise) was moderately steep at the start and a quite gentle slope on the return. The path goes though meadows which, in mid-June, were ablaze with amazing mountain flora. There were many orchids (different species), amongst the usual variety of other flowers. The views are spectacular throughout. This is an excellent excursion we would repeat for sureWritten 21 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julia @Scrumptious SolentSouthampton, UK2 350 contributionsVery efficient and easy way to reach the top of Resciasa which is a lovely area with good views of the valley. There’s a restaurant right next to funicular when you get off and you can reach a nice refuge - Rashetz - about 20 minutes further up on the journey up to the crucifix at the top of this mountain section on path 35.Written 5 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Derek YBirmingham, UK15 contributionsSuch a peaceful spot with terraced planting on steep hillside; perfect.
It was wonderful meeting the owner/creator (I'm enjoying her Miele di Bosco at home now!). We eat our packed lunch on a hut balcony, & had coffee outside at the adjacent hotel.Written 14 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. With only two days to work with, I wanted a guide to help me get the most of my time. I found Gardena Guides on-line and they gave me exactly what I needed! Adele was very helpful during the booking process, helping to match my interests to the right service... she was pleasant, patient and responsive by phone and email... kindly working with me in good English.
My guide Christof was a perfect match. I was extremely fortunate to arrive to 15cm fresh powder, apparently the first new snow in a month, at the end of a particularly dry winter. I was excited to get off-piste for some fresh powder lines, and Christof knew his way around the endless terrain. We first hit some nice stashes within easy access of the lifts, then did one 30-minute boot-pack to a great steep fresh face, and finally a longer boot-pack and traverse to Val Mezdi... an 1100-meter vertical descent through a steep couloir with amazing powder and views! Over lunch, he helped me plan my second day, which I did solo. Christof was a pleasure to get to know and ski with, giving me exactly the ski experience I was looking for... in one day, I got a good understanding of the over-all Val Gardena area and hit some unforgettable back-country terrain!
Adele and Christof arranged for him to meet me at my hotel at 8:00AM and help me get gear rented quick and easy... he was there on time, and drove me into Selva to quickly get good freeski equipment plus purchase my ski pass. We were skiing by 9:00. This was huge help that saved me what probably would have been a couple hours of wasted time if I had to figure it out myself on the first day of skiing.
(Tip for American skiers... it took a while to translate the terms for different ski experiences... "Ski Guiding" means the guide takes you around inbounds/marked trails/pistes aka "slopes" (almost all groomed); "Freeski" means off-piste skiing using lifts to access whatever terrain you like, including traverses and boot-packing to stuff off the map; "Ski Touring" means full back-country access, ie. via alpine skinning)Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We experienced on the four types of cable cars.
The first one took us from the base to a middle level. From there we went to the top most place in a huge cable car which could accommodate 50 people. After doing a two hours hike we embarked on an open cable car. After we disembarked we hiked for an hour and then boarded the last cable car which took us to the base.
It’s a great experience. Especially the open cable car.Written 27 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were lucky with the weather, and enjoyed the gorgeous views up and down the Val Gardena.
Along the path are a range of boards, expanding on the history of this track (which was built during WW1 by Russian prisoners of war).Written 1 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas KMonte-Carlo, Monaco1 329 contributionsThis is an absolutely breathtaking church . The Parish Church of Urtijëi located in the town of Urtijëi in Val Gardena in South Tyrol, Italy is dedicated to the Epiphany and to Saint Ulrich.
It was built in the years 1792–1796 in the Neoclassical style with some Baroque elements by the tyrolean master Joseph Abenthung and the interior domes painted by the Tyrolean brothers Franz Xaver and Josef Kirchebner. The structure of the church has the form of Latin cross with a central nave and two lateral chapels dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to Our Lady of the Rosary.
The church contains a great number of sculptures, mostly in wood, carved by artists from Val Gardena, including Vigil Dorigo, Luis Kostner, Josef Moroder-Lusenberg, Anton Pitscheider and Franz Ruggaldier. In the corners of the presbytery there are four plaster statues, created by Johann Dominik Mahlknecht (German Wikipedia) for this church but never cast in bronze, representing the four Evangelists. The stained glass windows are a matching set, each one containing a roundel with the head of one of the Twelve Apostles.Written 11 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
