A must see of Lecco with fantastic views of the city, the lake and surrounding mountains. In August at 8pm you'll get sunset views. The guides are unpaid volunteers, there is a free English audio guide with a QR link that can be listened to. Any fear of heights is not some much a issue as there 5/6 levels inside as you climb. My son at 7yo manage it, the bell tower section is open for photos and optional to climb to the very top.

This was our favourite thing we did our whole trip. We got the cable car which was a fun experience and then spent a few hours marvelling at the views. This is a must do if you are visiting Lecco

When you are in Lecco or around and love hiking, this is the place you should go to!
We took a cable car - Funivia Piani d'Erna (cost 11,50 € both ways) and after that followed the path taking us up & to the cottage. Meals in the cottage are served from 12 and you can even have a nice wine :-) The hike up from the cable car station took us around 2 hours (I consider ourselves being very fit), back down it was around 1,5 hours. You should definitely wear hiking boots!

The Basilica of San Nicolo is located in the heart of Lecco, in an elevated position near Lake Como. The Church of San Nicolo is the most important place of worship in the city. Built in the neoclassical style, it has very ancient roots. The front door dates from 1975 . The interior has three naves, one central and two on the sides with perimeter chapels. I recommend visiting this beautiful church.

While the Palazzo was closed the day we visited we were very taken by the historic centre of Lecco, not as touristy as Bellagio of Varenna, with very much the feel of a working town. The piazza in front of the Palazzo is full of cafes and a great placce to sit in the sun and people-watch. Then go for a stroll along the lakefront. A very pleasant little town. If you're driving from Como to Varenna it makes for an excellent coffee of lunch stop.

It's a nice place but not something to have on top of your list if you do not know who Alessandro Manzoni was. The place and the entrance can be hard to find especially since there are no signs. Also, it's a pitty you cannot visit the gardens.
Even if we were the only visitors the guide was very nice and helpful. We certainly plan to read "The Betrothed" now :)

Lecco is a little city, in Lombardia, among some mountains, a lovely city on the Lecco lake. A lot of places to visit, nice food and drink.

Great walk, great views! Strongly recommend to go. We were almost alone on the route, which made out trek more amazing :). We did the walk in less that 5 hours with 2 short breaks. The path itself is not really signed in one area and we lost the track (in the forest just before mountain itself) so we ended up in just climbing up through the bushes and grass, which was super steep.

Built 1336 - 1338 still well preserved this bridge serves to connect Lecco and Malgrate, worth a visit for the views up the river from it.
