What travellers are saying
- Liege-Bastogne-LiegeZurich, Switzerland378 contributionsFirst off, Zaragoza is a gem. it is a most beautiful, relaxed and lovely city to visit. On the mainline between Madrid and Barcelona, 90 mins each way, it's alos ideally located for a few quieter days.
The Basilica is its centrepiece, right on the banks of the Ebro, and it is very spectacular. It's high Bqroque so do expect highly ornate decoration, evocative lighting, lots of gilt and expansive space.
There are two Goya Frescoes on the ceiling - he was local and because the Archbishop was not sufficiently in awe of his work, he left and never returned.
And look out for the two holes in the ceiling made by bombs from an air raid during the civil war, neither of which exploded. A miracle they say.
I can't find a Trip Advisor entry for a wonderful restaurant nearby, El Ciclon, in the arcade across the square, so a little entry here will have to do. Go to El Ciclon, its fun, lovely food, great service, reasonable rates and very welcoming.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Of the three, for me, it ranks a close second to the Mezquita in its imposing elegance.
It is a moated castle surrounded by a park within walking distance of the centre of Zaragoza.
It has served for a thousand years as a Moorish and then a Christian Palace, armory, defensive keep, prison, and otday it is a protected historic monument, a visitor centre and it serves as the location of the Cortes, the Parliament of the Province of Aragon.
As you might expect, its architecture illustrates that history, with the most impressive elements being the extensive and beautifully preserved Moorish parts.
It was a very pleasant and informative visit on a mid September Sunday, busy but not overcrowded. It is hugely impressive.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is one of the two cathedrals of Zaragoza (with more known El Pilar). It was built in the 12th Century and it has a very big bell tower. Inside you can see some very nice Chappelle's, around the cathedral choir. It is a very interesting religious building, where you can see a lot of artworks in each chapel. Also, inside you can visit the museum of tapestries, which is also very interesting.

Don’t stay in one place too long. Order some thing small and bounce around from bar to bar enjoying the different tapas. We didn’t know what to order, or how to read a menu at Balcon and the waiter through his arms around us, and told us he would take care of us, and we ate like kings for very little money. If you are in Zaragoza, ask around to find out exactly where this district is and go have fun.
We especially enjoyed the egg/potato dish at EL BALCÓN DEL TUBO (best waiters!!). Don’t let the organized chaos for you. He will be fed, and have fresh drinks at your table within seconds. Extremely efficient.
We also really liked the mushroom tapas at El
Champi Zgz.
You’ll eat and drink well in El Tubo without spending a fortune. Loved it!Written 21 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a big square, where a lot of important parties in city are done. Also, it is one of the most important touristic place. Very big square to walk, to visit some sightseeing points, surrounded by shops and bars and restaurants. Very nice. The most known place in the city.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain11 524 contributionsTorre del Pilar, the tower of Pilar Cathedral is located in the centre of Zaragoza, close to Ebro River. It is a very nice lookout, from where you can see the upper part of the most important cathedral in the city, and very beautiful views of the river, the city and the surroundings. In fact, it is the best lookout in the center. Very nice for tourists.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I know it sounds a little strange but definitely worth it for 3€ regular and 2€ concession(65+, univeristy student included)! The person who gave us our tickets was polite and friendly and very patient with our subpar Spanish!
The museum takes you through the history of origami both globally and Zaragotha-specific. There are then examples of different types of origami.. (didn't know there was more than one!!) and a couple of artist portfolios and how to find them on social media, also a couple of exhibitions dedicated to historical origami artists.
My favourite exhibitions/artefacts were definitely the impressive world map and the 17 sustainability goals display! I really liked the geographical and environmental perspective throughout.Written 9 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a very big river, which you can see from the lookout of the Tower of El Pilar Cathedral, cross it on different bridges or only see it from the river bank and follow it during some Kilometers. Very nice views, especially from the tower lookout.
