What travellers are saying
- jbg74Saint Paul, MN1 057 contributionsThis is a very pretty old town very similar to Partenkirchen. There are plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops in the old town. There are also a lot of nice hikes and a mountain right outside the town so plenty to do here. I would definitely recommend spending some time here.Written 21 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tom MHobart, IN53 contributionsThe only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that I also visited the Partnachklamm and the Breitachklamm on this trip. This is a very easy hike with a nicely constructed walkway to make getting around the gorge very easy. Extremely enjoyable morning and not crowded at all.Written 17 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LuckyTarHeelJasper, GA42 contributionsThe snow covered mountains surely accentuate the majestic views at top of mountain. The restaurant & views outstanding! Take the time to visit this magical destination!Written 9 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raoul RongenSittard, The Netherlands996 contributionsAfter walking through the Geisterklamm on a hot day we wanted to go to the Ferchensee for a dive in the water. In the neighbourhood of the lake is no driving and/or parking options because these are all private roads. You can park the car in Mittenwald, some parkings are paid but we found a free parking at the station. Luckily we could find a spot because it was crowded. We had the plan to walk from there to the Ferchensee (about 50 minutes) but by chance we walked along the bus. There are several bus lines that drive to the surrounding lakes. For a couple of euro's per person we bought a return ticket. The bus brought us to the Lautersee in around 10 minutes. From there we walked to the Ferchensee in 15 minutes. It is a nice walk through the forest. The Ferchensee is beautiful with on one side huge mountains and on the other side cosy green hills. It was not crowded at all. Mostly bikers passing through. We found a nice spot on the east side. There are enough grass fields surrounding the lake were you can take a spot. It is all free of charge. The water is quite cold but so beautiful. Also a perfect lake to snorkel especially along the shore. We spend a couple of hours here before walking back and taking the bus from the Lautersee to Mittenwald.Written 7 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jbg74Saint Paul, MN1 057 contributionsThis was a fun, little museum to visit. All of the information is in German and English. It is about the history of violin making in Mittenwald. There are some beautiful instruments here and lots of interesting historical information about violin making in the town. I highly recommend a visit.Written 21 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Randman17 contributionsIs beautiful church is right in the middle of Mittenwald. The ceiling and wall frescoes are amazing. The altar and the beautiful mural on the church tower make this a must stop when you are in Mittenwald.Written 13 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dantravelmaster24 contributionsWe walked from the Kranzberg Sessellift parking lot to the summit, which is about 1 to 1 hour 20 min. Unfortunately, it was raining the whole time so we could not enjoy the apparently stunning views from the top. Descending to the Ferchensee was about an hour. It took another hour to get back to parking lot. Fun fact: we wanted to have lunch at the Ferchensee but the monopolist restaurant closes on Fridays 😉. You’d think that post C lockdown there is a certain drive to make money.....well, apparently not. We walked to the next lake, and the two restaurants had already closed their kitchen. We arrived at about 3.30. A third place was actually open but they only offered snacks not real meals. Running family gag: they make it so hard to spend money.....Written 17 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeanne PDenver, CO23 contributionsGreat local ski area that greeted us warmly and helped translate to buy tickets. Once again the T-bars were a challenge for me but laughs for the rest of the family. Adorable cafe at the top that only takes Euros so be prepared so you can enjoy the strudel with vanilla sauce.Written 18 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
