- HHessDubai, United Arab Emirates141 contributionsStunning soft sandy beach and crystal blue Atlantic Ocean. We took a ferry from Arrcachon to Cap Ferret and then walked for about 25 min to reach the beach. It is an easy walk but there is also a train that costs 6E that can take you closer. The only challenge is the sandy part that you have to overcome to reach the beach. This part is connecting the concrete road and the beach itself. It is deffinitely NOT for the strollers or people with reduced mobility. Walking in deep sand is beautiful and fun but also quite demanding. Other than that it is a beautiful place to spend your day at, you can do kite surfing or join any other sport activities or just relax and enjoy the ocean.Written 9 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JollyD2212London, UK22 contributionsWe hired a Pinasse boat on 14/08/20 for 4hours. The booking process was very relaxed with no upfront payment or deposit. We were emailed details of pick up the night before along with a photo of the boat. Céderic picked us up in the boat at 10am from the main pier in Arcachon. He was very welcoming and asked what we would like to do. There were 7 of us but room for 12 I think so we had lots of space and the boat was spotlessly clean. He took us on a lovely tour of the Bassin including Bird Island, the coast along Cap Ferret, the sand bank and Dune du Pilat, explaining interesting information along the way. We needed to go back to Arcachon to collect one of our party at 1pm which was no problem for him and he was happy to wait whilst she arrived. We then stopped for a while outside of Cap Ferret while the kids had some time jumping off the boat and swimming. We were dropped at the pier at Cap Ferret at 2pm. After a lovely lunch and wander around we were collected st 4.30pn by one of The Bat Express water taxis. Again, the skipper was relaxed and friendly and got us back to Arcachon in no time at all. I would highly recommend Bat Express, their service was completely seamless.Written 17 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tim jLondon, UK58 contributionsOverall a good fun trip. Jet skis are good (some prior experience definitely recommended otherwise you get left behind) and the briefing etc was quick and brief. Great stop off half way through to enjoy oysters as well. Only gripe was the “promised” photos were never sent and our emails were just ignored. I guess they had our money already so felt no need to even reply. Bit of a shame but overall a fun trip.Written 20 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eve B1 contributionThis was the second year in a row we were using FreeBay to get around the bassin d’Arcachon as a family of 9. The traditional boat is awesome, brand new, extremely clean, with lots of amenities. The captain, whether Francis or Philippe was extremely nice, reliable and knowledgeable of the area and its history. He can take you anywhere around the bassin: banc d’Arguin, dune du Pyla, Île aux Oiseaux etc. Unbelievable places that are hard to get to. You have the freedom of getting anywhere you want without worrying about getting stuck somewhere because of the tides. We are looking forward to using their services again next year.Written 17 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David MAlton, UK9 contributionsWe did not have the time for a boat tour. Just sitting on the terrace overlooking the sea, in idyllic settings, gorgeous oysters and prawns, accompanied by white wine, at extremely reasonable price. Great afternoon, fabulous memory, I wish we were still sitting there!Written 27 July 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JBBUNDublin, Ireland30 contributionsWe would highly recommend Glisse en Herbe’s bouee (like a squashed banana boat) experience. The team were friendly and gave good instructions (in French and perfect English). The ride (which was billed as 12 minutes but felt like 20 minutes) was pure shriek-filled exhilaration, enjoyed equally by the 2 teens and the 2 adults.Written 20 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Benoit B1 contributionWe had a wonderful evening around the Bassin d Arcachon.
We ve been picked up on the pier of Grand Piquey and from there went to la pointe au cheveaux and then the cabane tchanquee to have a few glass of wine and diner. We continued our tour on the bassin to (re) discover a few pearls that you dont find anywhere else.
We would like to thanks our skipper Nathaniel who has been a key part of our tour for his patience and knowledge of the area.
Keep it up. We had a blast.

Once he realised we had limited French, he went out of his way to ensure we understood what he was showing us by going out of his way to speak english.Written 20 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
