We love seeing the outstanding Frescoes in the abbey, the impressive library packed with medieval books, the refectory for the monks meals, the atmospheric Friars graveyard and tombs and the views and forest setting.
We visited most of the museums and churches in the popular cities in Italy but loved visiting this site off the beaten path!

It's huge and seems to go on forever with lots of different levels and rooms to explore from the relatively modern restorations to some areas that look like tunnels or recently dug archeological sites.
One can view these frescoes and then proceed to see the other part of the huge building that also houses the archeological museum and some artifacts of the middle ages, all on the same entry fee.
