We found great results, but some are outside Waipu. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to Waipu.
#1 of 4 Nature & Parks in Waipu
We got to walk in a cave with flowing water, mud, eels and glow worms exactly as nature intended it without all the commercialism.
The caves are a short 5 minute walk from the car park.
Ruakaka Beach Whangarei 8.8 km away
#7 of 16 Nature & Parks in Whangarei
Untouched pristine beach as made by mother nature
Be aware that the signs near the car park just behind the dunes suggest that there are picnic tables at/near the beach: there aren't - they're at a little reserve/park just down the road.

Took the kids 2 year old and a 5 year old on a walk to the water fall and its very manageable with young youngs worth going to see to get out and see nature
It would be better if other visitors could manage to take their rubbish home when they leave instead of dumping it in the trees where cars park.
Mount Manaia Track Whangarei 19.0 km away
#3 of 16 Nature & Parks in Whangarei
You can stop off at Parua Bay cafes (if heading from Whangarei) and bring lunch as there is a good picnic spot just above the car park.
We climbed early one morning, leaving the car park (it’s free) just before sunrise and had the mountain to ourselves.
Mangawhai Walkway Mangawhai 17.4 km away
#1 of 2 Nature & Parks in Mangawhai
Otherwise great way to embrace the nature of Mangawhai
Ocean Beach Whangarei Heads 19.9 km away
#1 of 3 Nature & Parks in Whangarei Heads
The drive to it seemed long and of the main road but there is a car park van a great place for the camper van to have lunch.
Park your car up and walk 500 or so metres to this mostly deserted spot.
Bream Head Coast Walks Whangarei 22.2 km away
#1 of 16 Nature & Parks in Whangarei
The DOC car park was well situated and it was most enjoyable meeting other people and sharing experiences.
But bring your water bottle and a hat to this walk, this is nature pure.
