- winowHong Kong70 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. It was a pleasant way to spend a grey day. The extra bonus was finding blackberries and wild raspberries, which were quickly devoured by our 4 year old. Walking through parts of this reserve was like going through a rainforest, the smell of the forest after the rain.
After the walk, we had a picnic by the stream and it was oh so peaceful.Written 30 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen CAldeby, UK4 contributionsI attended this workshop. It was so informative and so well organised. All staff were so helpful. Nothing was any trouble for them. You’re weren’t rushed at all so i could take your time to design my shoe.. After workshop had finished I had a total disaster with my shoe. All my own fault. I dropped it 😭. Chocolate doesn’t bounce. Angie who ran the course was immediately there and managed to piece my shoe together and make all things good. An absolutely wonderful lady so kind and generous. Thank you for an amazing day and experience.Written 6 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- The Chef's Wife.Norfolk, UK923 contributionsI visited here with my husband and In-Laws.
Myself and my husband have been before. The In-Laws have not.
There is a very large car park, which although gets very busy, always has spaces.
The Garden Centre itself is very good. It has a large indoor and outdoor area selling plants, furniture, gifts, food and everything in between. They also have lots of little shops in outbuildings that are independently run from the Garden Centre itself.
We had lunch at the cafe.
It has a decent enough amount of seating. All quite rickety and uncomfortable though.
You order at the counter, pay and then take a seat.
I ordered a Ploughman's. On ordering, the server said "Is that with cheese?". Well, yes! I wanted a Ploughman's after all!
What came was a massive pile of cheese, some shop bought chutney, some lettuce leaves and a shop bought brown roll. No pork pie, meat, pickle or anything else you would expect to find on a ploughman's. I basically had a deconstructed cheese salad roll!
My husband had a jacket potato and said it was okay but not the best he's ever had.
The In-Laws had a jacket potato each and weren't that impressed.
The food is expensive for what you get and not great at all.
The service was poor (quite abrupt and unfriendly) and they'd already ran out of several of our first choices of food and we were there early in the day.
I would rate the cafe 2 stars if reviewing on it's own.
The Garden Centre itself would get 4 stars.
Therefore I have given a 3 star rating overall.
My suggestion would be enjoy the Garden Centre, of which you can spend a good few hours at, but avoid the cafe at all costs.
We'd visit the Garden Centre again for sure. The cafe, I wouldn't touch again with a barge pole.Written 27 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
