We visited the Probat museum and first viewed a wonderful looking P05 Roaster (Powder blue) on display and was warmly met by Tina, the granddaughter of the founder of Probat. Tina is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about coffee roasting and a host of other interesting historical facts.

This is a fabulous tour from a very kind and friendly guide. Highly recommended.

Promenade running next to the River Rhine, not far from the town centre. Beautiful, well laid out garden areas and flowerbeds with sculptured trees along its length, just under a mile, backed by apartments, cafes and a hotel. Limited seating along its length.
As well as views of the river, you get a good view of the areas "Golden Gate Bridge",a copy of San Francisco's

The impressive Roman style church is located on the 80m high Eltener hill (Eltenerberg). From the adjacent park one can have a splendid view of the surroundings, the Rhine valley in particular. The church is a reconstruction from 1677 of an earlier structure dated 1129 that was destroyed during the 80-year war in 1585. At the end of WOII it was severely damaged by Canadian artillery fire. The restoration in the 1950s was a result of German-Dutch cooperation. From the Dutch side the help of Jan van Heekeren from nearby 's Heerenberg was instrumental.

Compared to churches in the Netherlands from the same period the building looks very robust and solid. Gray, somber colors dominate the exterior as well as the interior. Square forms give it a serious appearance, though inside the Baroque style altar and some art works give it a lighter touch. Very well-maintained and clean.

Unbelievable that until 1931 this well served as the main source of water for the 20 families on Eltenerhill. Most probably in use since 980, the time the abbey was founded. Well restored in the 1950s, a historic well indeed.

This bridge was built after World War Two it was a symbol of rebuilding after the terrible destruction during the war. Almost the whole town of Emmerich was blown away.
Building this lovely bridge over the majestic Rhine in cooperation with the Netherlands was so important to overcome the past. Nowadays It is an important attraction for Emmerich and an important road between Holland, Emmerich and Kleve. Do watch it from Emmerich Rheinpromenade

The catholic church 'St. Martini' is located near the Rhine river. There was a lot happened to this church since it was built. The flood, the bomb in the WW II even in 1944 the church building burned out completely. The reconstruction of the church took place from 1950 to 1968 and then was also renovated in 1976-1989. Originally it had late ghotic style interior but you can't see it any longer. The only one that is still late ghotic interior is the choir stalls. It's very beautiful. The mosaic chapel is very colourful and there is also a crypt next to the mosaic chapel.

Beautiful Church that belies its' 13 centuries of age!
Looks a lot newer on the outside until you enter(for free),its cool arched interior. Magnificent stained glass windows and clean simple lines of its construction,no frills, just a place of tranquillity and worship.
A lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside.

At the east end of the Rheinpromenade you will see a small harbour and also this park. It is a public park with kids playground, special for the todler at one part and at the other part is for kids. The white house with red windows in the park is a gallery and you can visit the exposition for free. Local come for a walk, playing with the kids or just sitting on the benches and enjoy the harbour. There is also a war monument 'Kriegerdenkmal'.

Pegelhäuschen is one of the water level gauges on the Rhine. It is a Gauging Station, a place where systematic observations of gauge height (water level) or discharge are obtained. The place that control the level of the water, in this case the Rhine. It is a cute tiny house with a big yellow clock.

It is a granit chair in front of St. Vitus Church. When you stand on the base of the chair, you will see two colosal dark stones pillar (Stein Tor) and in the clear Sunny day you can see the beautiful scenery through the two pillar.
