We wanted to enjoy some jazz music that wasn't a sit down concert as such and this was the perfect place.

Loved the intimate concert and the extraordinary musicians - a must see in NOLA - very friendly staff and super fun.
If you love jazz, love the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and love intimate concerts you will love this.

But I would pay for both shows I saw there.

Do not mistake Maison Bourbon Preservation Hall with the Preservation Hall across the street which offers 3-4 shows a day and requires tickets.

But the best two aspects of the Jazz Park are the excellent ranger walk while discussing the history of jazz and a bit about the city itself and also the free concerts by rangers and guest musicians.
We saw a piano/banjo concert (all for free, by the way) at the visitor's center and then went down to mint for an amazing concert (classical up to contemporary) by a young man with other amazing musicians backing...

The NOLA House of Blues is a great venue, loads of different spaces for concerts, food and drinks.

The Old Mint is also a great venue for jazz concerts provided with most interesting info about jazz and New Orleans by the US National Parks Service jazz band and other renowned local musicians.
What is really amazing are the free morning Jazz tours lead by rangers through the French Quarter as well as the free afternoon jazz concert at 2PM.
