I was surprised at the size, I knew it was big, but it's REALLY big when you see it in person. There are far fewer people in the evening and the statue is well lit so I would recommend this as an after-dinner stop. - Libbie64Colorado Springs, CO45 contributionsWe love spending time in this area each time we visit San Diego. Along the bay is a beautiful walk and there is much to do. We have taken the ferry at Broadway Pier across the bay to Coronado, visited the USS Midway museum, walked through the shops at Seaport Village, and had dinner at Brigantine Portside Pier where we had a table outside with a view of the incredible sunset. A great place to spend an afternoon and.have lunch at one of those restaurants with those great views. There is a lot to see and do at various price points. Rules enforced at the convention center - proof of vaccination, or tests , face mask on premises and distancing - dependent on your choice.
Entrance on only 1 door where you had to show always proof of vaccination.
Overall they did a good job from this perspective.
Facility was great , as always , clean meeting rooms , very clean restrooms, the main ballroom setup with distanced tables and the food served was also very good.
Escalators and elevators were working at every point - so access was easy everybody.
Parking underneath the building - so you could park your car with ease if you were driving to the event.
Or a train station right across the street if you were using San Diego public transportation.
Clearly marked easy to access drop off/pick up points for those using ride sharing services.

Maybe because I rarely see the sea, or just because of the unique flavor of San Diego with its harbor and maritime museum and USS Midway....still the Embarcadero area it is one of my favorite places in the city.
It is located in Downtown San Diego - stretching from the W Grape St. incorporating the Waterfront Park and ending at the Embarcadero Marina South Park at the San Diego convention center.
So the area is huge ... you can spend a whole day in the area if you like - the Maritime museum definitely worth visiting, the USS Midway is an absolute must. Maybe at the cruise ship terminal you go for a whale watching tour ... and if you are hungry you could have lunch or diner at the many places in the area.
Also it is important that it is easily accessible from all direction and on top there are plenty of parking spots ...
For me it is always nice to walk in the area ... Was understandably busy but not over crowded, I would say it’s not well sign posted for first time attendees, we walked round some pointless bits first before working out where all the main stuff was. Tried to queue for hall h for marvel but after an hour was told it was pointless. And it doesn’t stop there, there was loads of events going on around San Diego at the bars and pubs and even on the street. So definitely do your research so you know where else to head after the convention. We spent a good few hours here with a break for lunch. We enjoyed the views. - GlobalGypsy_13San Diego, CA2Â 687 contributionsThis small museum on a downtown corner tells the story of the Chinese in San Diego through objects & a courtyard garden with sculptures and a koi pond; at 9 a.m. on Saturdays all are welcome to a free Tai Chi/Qi Gong class.. There's also an active monthly lecture program at a nearby building and a special exhibit in the annex across the street. The fun dragon show just closed (Jan. 2020) and next up is Chinese children paintings. Admission includes all 3 venues. There's a small gift counter in the annex and metered street parking. Took a visit here the day after touring the USS Midway, as I saw from the ship the famous "kiss" statue memorialized in the photo of a NYC sailor and young lady celebrating news of the end of World War II.
This park follows the water and offers a paved path for ADA access. It ends out by the restaurant and a large, life sized memorial to Bob Hope, who entertained wartime troops with his great comedy and personality.
There are vendors selling snacks along the park as well, and it was fun just to sit and people watch as tourists (yeah, like me I guess!) walk up to the large kissing statue and try to figure out how to pose with it!
That, plus a backdrop of the enormous aircraft carrier were great for sitting about half an hour and enjoying an ice cold can of Coke from a vendor on a rather warm day.
If that's not your thing, just go watch the harbor life - and overhead, as there are always things flying over! - or just relax on the grass.
