Fantastic park and walk. Lots of full sun and shady cool places. Lots to adventure through. Beautiful architecture. Wish I could spend a few days in the park.

We love coming here! We also love bringing our dogs. You can't actualy go in the botanical garden with the dogs, but the dogs love looking at the koi fish and walking around the pond and people watching and making new friends. The botanical garden is small but beautiful. It is worth going.

The gardens are flawless. The bonsai are very well cared for. The water features and huge koi are my favorite. There are so many people walking around but you can still feel the tranquility. I started my day here and it set a nice pace for relaxation and adventure.

This rose garden is so beautiful and well maintained. I immediately came home and bought a sugar moon rose, based on how much I loved their fragrance!

The Desert Garden has a display of beautiful cacti of many species and sizes. Take a few minutes to stoll among the cacti or spend more time to watch the animals and birds that call this place their home. Conveniently located near the Natural History Museum just across the pedestrian bridge. When taking MTS bus #7 from downtown, it is on the right s few steps from the bus stop.

We returned to Balboa Park for a day outing. As part of our outing, we had a good time to go see the sculpture garden again. Panama 66 is also a good cafe that is near the sculpture garden.

The Alcazar Garden with snapdragons, manicured shrubs and fountains is nestled between beautiful buildings in Balboa Park. It is a nice area to sit and reflect or rest while visiting the park.

This always makes me smile when I drive by and see all the work that goes into this topiary garden. So many different character to look at. I would suggest getting out of the car and looking, but be aware of traffic at this intersection.

There are numerous trails here. The park is just North of the border with Mexico. Great view to Tijuana, and the Pacific Ocean.

We didn't see much birdlife, but good to be among the natural habitat.

Plenty of parking, ready trails, few visitors, unisex bathroom, and a couple of picnic tables make for a pleasant afternoon.

At the edge of Balboa Park is an urban oasis. The Trees for Health Garden has several self-guided paths with trees, cacti, and plants that can provide health benefits. I was delighted to find a coffee berry tree as the research on drinking caffeine is divided and enjoyed discovering this corner of Balboa Park that also attracts birds. At the official "entry" point facing 6th Street there is a big board with information, but the box for trail maps was empty. Thus, I doubt that I explored the 4 acres of trees -- so another weekday stop (parking can be difficult on weekends) is forthcoming.
