What travellers are saying
- Saladodan71Salado, TX7 contributionsWe chose this to see out of a multitude in the Escondido Valley with it being the oldest. With this being a lull in the tourist season, we walked in and was able to get a wine tasting without a reservation. The tasting came with an additional treat; the opportunity to sample some chocolates with our tasting from a chocolate shop just down the courtyard of this village setting. Salut!Written 5 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tiberiu_BaranyiTimisoara, Romania7Â 466 contributionsAs the sign says on the archway as you enter to the Gaslamp quarter - the Historical Heart of San Diego.
For sure it could be - though I never visited little Italy or other historical parts of the San Diego, still lets give credit to the locals.
Once an (in)famous area of the city with saloon, brothels and all sort of "attractions" especially for the sailors returning from the sea, today a vibrant area of San Diego with pubs, bars, restaurant and clubs so everybody can find something he likes.
You can walk around even during the night- did it for 6 days this January nothing happened, I felt perfectly safe.
In terms of restaurants a great variety especially along 5th Ave but not limited to. Hotels - a lot of them from major hotel chains.
For those of you into architectures you can find around 100 historical buildings - some very well preserved. A few museums are also located in this area and if you care for a game - Petco Park is there also ...
Overall from my perspective a must see area when you are in San Diego.... go check it out.Written 30 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Corey L24 contributionsSo much food to sample/buy! - Charles - South AfricaEast London, South Africa9 contributionsIt is a bonus to go to street markets on a saturday with great vibe food and music. Definately don't miss this visit. Great relaxed atmosphere.Written 30 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jonathan PLos Angeles, CA23 contributionsConsidering what is going on with a Covid, this is a fine little family adventure for ourselves and our two boys (6 & 8). You must book in advance so you get you own private block of time (about 30 minutes). You descend from their store down into a tunnel like something out of an Indiana Jones film. Once you get to the observation deck below, you are peering from inside the cave out to the ocean. On the rocks if you look closely you'll see all kind of crabs walking around, and if you're lucky, as we were, you'll view some sea lions lounging around up close. We were within a foot.
Not a bad way to spend a half hour or so, and outside in the immediate area are cliffs and paths to walk and catch the amazing views.Written 22 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - alicerabbitMilpitas, CA655 contributionsRather small collection of shops all on the Mexican vibe. Cute set-up, but no elevator to 2nd story. Nice little patio area with restrooms, but no restaurant services. I found a colorful pottery rabbit for my garden there. Very close to Casa Guadalajara restaurant across parking lot.Written 26 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Madeleine MBethesda, MD2 contributionsCreative olive oil infusions in wine, cocktails, charcuterie, & brownies! Attentive, knowledgeable staff, especially Damillin. Can’t wait to return!Written 29 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- caltravelgalCovina, CA349 contributionsyes, it is pricy. But you get what you pay for, and they make the taffy right there in the store. It is so fresh and soft. There are also many other candy items to choose from, and of course some amazing fudge. Where else are you going to find anything with huckleberry in it?Written 7 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Anne G9 contributionsWow, where do I begin?? The main reason I came here was to purchase a Traveler's Notebook. They didn't have the color I wanted, but the salesperson went to the back and retrieved the color I desired! Wonderful customer service! I spent the better part of an hour exploring the aisles - I needed writing accessories for my new notebook! :)Written 27 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- yvonnemhermanSan Ramon, CA21 contributionsLovely, fun shop in San Diego. They have specialty items such as Buddha statues, beaded bracelets, trinkets, incense, scarfs, etc.Written 9 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- traveling_nickel19 contributionsA great find for local, hand-crafted jewelry. My wife and I were visiting from out of state and found a pair of Tahitian black pearls that Michelle (the shop owner) brought back herself from the source! To help aid in surprising my wife for the upcoming holiday, she coordinated with me to ship them to our home address. Her craftsmanship and customer care are unparalleled! Don't miss out on this hidden gem!Written 17 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Andie M2 contributionsThey are super nice and helpful here! We used a Groupon and it was great. The employees are really nice and chill. :)Written 17 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- HanoicLas Vegas, NV95 contributionsIf you are (like me) tabacco pipes and habanos lover you will love this shop. You will find a big collection of vintage pipes and big and good range of habanos. The environment is vintage as well.Written 3 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Gi BLas Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain24 contributionsBEST market to buy AMAZING GREAT QUALITY fish and seafood. They also sell Sea Urchin (Uni) and that is heaven for me!!! Highly recommended! They ship all over the USA. Too bad they don’t ship to Spain lolWritten 26 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- John NTulsa, OK43 contributionsMy wife and I went here just to kill some time before our dinner reservation, and we were REALLY glad we did. This place is quite amazing. Original Looney Tunes and Peanuts artwork. A wonderful slice of Americana and the innocence of my childhood. Surprisingly, the artwork is very affordable, and the gentleman who was on duty at the time was very friendly and knowledgeable (and didn't behave like a salesman at all). Love this place! Apparently it's been around for 40 years, and I hope it stays around for at least another 40.Written 3 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
