What travellers are saying
- phasesofthemoon78San Diego, CA50 contributionsThe noble experiment
Needed a quick date night
I made a reservation on line which is why I’m starting off with this part in the review because I think part of us having a reservation was very helpful and enjoying the experience ,
While looking for the address keep in mind that you will not find the location with the actual name of The noble experiment anywhere not on windows - not at the door
Look for the actual address number and go from there . At first when you come across the location # you will say
“Is this the right place “
because all you see is a door and some comercial restaurant kitchen tables and such .
As you walk in someone walks you to the bar but not before the instruct you on the popcorn - it’s forbidden in the bar only allowed in the waiting area which are those cold commercial kitchen tables / that are in where you wait when you don’t have reservations .
It’s funny because it’s like they got a deal on some cold commercial tables and now just use them as part of their story - their story goes as follows . The owners closed down their kitchen and they are using half of it
The place is a bit twisted but in its own little unique way .
So you go down a tiny hall and come across a keg wall yes that opens up and boom there you go the bar that sits 30 beautiful checkered floors and very intimate seating , it’s almost sharing and listening to everyone’s convos until you warm up and everyone gets comfortable with drinks .
The bartenders really know their stuff They have a simple menu of drinks and can pretty much make your choice of drink . The drinks are stiff so eat before arriving or leaving . There’s a delicious taco shop around the corner so grab a bite
The bathrooms look very interesting graffiti on purpose almost seems like there would be a glory hole somewhere
The vibe is semi casual but sexy and sultry since it’s dim and feels exclusive . There is no flash photography . Have fun and enjoy it . Vinnie VSan Diego, CA1 631 contributionsWent to The Nolan for a friend’s birthday. Went had a wonderful time. Love that it’s on the rooftop of the Courtyard Marriott in downtown San Diego. We had great service. Our food and drinks were wonderfully good. Highly recommend if in San Diego.Written 1 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Kamilla2 contributionsMy favorite bar in San Diego! The only bar I go to for drinks. Drinks are pricey but totally worth it. If you have a birthday they will provide a small drink to the whole party. I wish they did not remove the old drinks from the menu or at least they should be able to make them but they dont have the ingredients they say. Also menus need to be reprinted as some of them have stainsWritten 23 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- rharchHighland, CA297 contributionsIf you are enjoying a day on the water at Mission Bay, this is one of the few dining options with convenient access from the water. The outdoor dining area is beautiful. It can be tough to find seating on the weekends because this is a popular place. The food was a bit pricey, but good.Written 8 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Penelope WHouston, TX12 contributionsOkay. This place is amazing. Take a first date! It would blow their mind. Cocktails are the best I’ve ever had. Bartenders are kind, knowledgeable, and so fun. Atmosphere is dark, sexy, and mysterious. Live music was excellent. Just loved this place! FYI- On Friday and Saturday nights they require 1920’s attire.Written 14 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- noxiousburritoAnn Arbor, MI257 contributionsWow! This place is cool. The menu was extensive, the waitstaff and bartenders exemplary. I was able to get an extravagant excellent mocktail and that made my day. Must visit.Written 21 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Earl MJacksonville, FL120 contributionsI decided to try this place on a recent visit to San Diego and I’m glad I did. If you enjoy Irish food then you need to eat here. I had the Irish Sampler which consisted of Guinness Stew, shepherd pie, corn beef and cabbage, and what I call Irish chicken and dumplings. Paired with a pint of Guinness, was just was I needed. It was wonderful.Written 5 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Inga ISan Diego, CA11 contributionsThe Top of the Hyatt has the most beautiful views Downtown! Also, be sure to catch the most beautiful sunsets here over a glass of wine. Unfortunately they do not have a happy hour in case you were wondering. This is a perfect place to stop in for a cocktail to wrap up a day sightseeing at Seaport Village or Coronado.Written 13 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- irisheyes0528ships19694 contributionsDon't pass up what is clearly a dive bar but with excellent food! Stopped by here for breakfast. You order at the bar and we were greeted by a super friendly bartender. There are a number of regulars here as well as tourists. We ordered the very affordable Atlantic Jag breakfast- a ton of food! For $15 we were hooked up with a bottle of sparkling wine and OJ for mimosas! It was so fun to sit outside at the tables and enjoy our big breakfast while watching people (and their dogs) go by on a beautiful San Diego morning.Written 15 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tracey ENewport News, VA3 contributionsNot too flashy, lots of selections, good wine options and comfy seating inside. Had been awhile since I'd burned one and this place made it easy to get right back in.Written 15 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- wayne rVancouver, Canada54 contributionsAfter driving by this place for years we decided to stop in for a drink and am I ever glad we did. The Aero Club is the best whisky bar that I have ever been to. They must have over 900 different bottles and they have a catalog which is as thick as a small town phone book listing and describing them all. I usually just ask the bartender to surprise me and I have never been disappointed.
They also have other alcohols and beers for the non whisky drinker.
This is a really cool retro place that legend says was owned by a female pilot who opened the bar in the 1940's so she would have somewhere to drink with her friends.
The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy and the service is great. The bartenders sure do know their whisky. Even the casual or novice whisky drinker will be happy here.
I can't say enough good things about this place and that is why we keep going back.Written 17 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - CaribbeanLove86London, UK166 contributionsWent on a Wednesday and was fairly quiet as expected. Drinks were reasonably priced, good view of the ballpark & pleasant vibes. Also visited on a Friday and there was a DJ playing some bangers, check it out! Staff were attentive! I can’t decide which bar is better, this or the Nolen (4 min walk away). You decide...Written 12 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jumby15New York City, NY524 contributionsVisited a few times and as there is so many to choose from I usually go for a don ramos or a Romeo and Juliet, tonight was a recommendation of a Rocky Patel and a Monte cristo washed down by a few beers.
Great place, great people and great company in old town.
