The self guided tour was fantastic. Everyone received a wand to listen to the tour. People were polite and orderly and I felt like I had an opportunity to view everything. Once the audio tour was over we were free to walk around at our own pace and see other areas of the island such as where the guards lived. The ferry over provided great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz as you approached it.

Spent a great three days in S.F. Started with a Giants baseball game with great views of the Bay; Bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge with a return via Ferry; Cable Car ride; explored the Mission, Castro and Noe District shops and restaurants; drove north up the coast to splurge on raw oysters. Check out the scenic Field of Dreams field in Nicasio CA. We stayed at The Inn of San Francisco, a comfortable B&B. If you can, make sure you see the show "Dear San Francisco" at Club Fugazzi: it is 90 minutes full of entertainment.

This is such a beautiful place to walk around and take photos. Many people were getting wedding and graduation photos taken while I was there. The architecture, plants and wildlife are wonderful. Great place for a stroll or just to sit on the grassy side and read or people watch.

The gardens have amazing specimens and history. Japanese Tea Garden was hyper maintained. If I had the time, I would have stayed all day.

Gale force winds dislodging your camera/phone from your hands, standing on the edge of nowhere with no bottom in sight all to get some of the best views of San Francisco. It was all well worth it. Twin Peaks is a must see.

This is a nice combination of an Aquarium, Rainforest/Atrium, and planetarium. So much to do. Cannot recommend the VIP tour highly enough. Very educational and you get to explore spaces unavailable to general admission--bone archives and Fish archives.

Fantastic hike with gorgeous views - don't miss the shipwreck! We decided to spend 4 hours and walked the entire trail, visited the bath ruins, and continue to the small park south of the diner (now closed) where we had great beach and ocean views and views of the west side of Golden Gate park, including the two windmills. A lovely way to spend the day!

The Empanadas and Red Bay coffee was so good, we went back for a second morning. Great collection of stores in the building, and lots of vendors outside for Saturday market.

This was one of the main things that I wanted to see while we were in San Francisco. The street was very interesting, and worth the trip down it. The view of the street from other parts of the city is beautiful.
