What travellers are saying
- CMurphy128Charleston, SC20 contributionsIf you go at night you can see the turtles sleeping! We saw 11 of them. Just don't use flashlights/phone! Go at sunset as well! Great views and you're pretty much guaranteed a turtle spotting!Written 12 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Steve WToronto, Canada29 contributionsA bit technical and at 4 miles a bit long. We stopped at the Maha'ulepa Beach after seeing the sink hole and Makawauki Cave but were so happy we did this hike. We actaully went back to Maha'ulepa Beach a 2nd time because if was so beautiful (and mostly deserted) and managed to walk another 1/2 mile of the trail along the beach. A great way to spend a day in Kauai.Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- surfercharlieGlendive, MT824 contributionsWe stopped here briefly, just to take a look. The beach is very popular. Lots of people. It is developed with bathrooms and paved parking. Great scenery. The sand was VERY HOT when we visited. There are better beaches but this one is good.Written 14 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Octobertraveler31Albany, NY53 contributionsSelf guided tour allows enough time to explore. Things are well marked. Walk is easy. Would recommend this tourWritten 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- shawnpedersenCambridge, Canada151 contributionsWent for a bit of a drive and stopped by here. It was cool to see, would recommend. Very quick stop, not much else to do here, great views and was cool to see in the afternoon.Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LaurettaYoungPortland, OR582 contributionswe did the combined Allerton/McBryde bus tour. It was very informative. Our guide was JoAnn. Would have liked the opportunity to ask questions more but it seemed like a very prescribed presentation. The gardens are lovely and the mission there is worthwhile.Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CubfansValparaiso, IN334 contributionsSuch a cute little beach with easy and well marked access. Rocks and a reef make it great for snorkeling, family time or sunset viewing.Written 20 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Michelle9 contributionsBeautiful sights everywhere you look! You can do as much or as little walking and hiking as you prefer and still see breathtaking views. We walked and hiked several miles along the shoreline and golf course marveling at the beauty. Multiple terrains included rocks, packed dirt, sand and some loose rock. Trails weren’t always obvious so you can meander along and find multiple ways around. Some trails are used by horses as well.Written 20 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Caleb J6 contributions2 hours sounds like a long time to walk around, but it flew by for us! They had a ton of different variants of plants with historical timelines of them. The "Spice of Life" trail is in development and we are excited to head back when it's completed! The other walkthrough of historical plants was really interesting, it showed the types of plants that would be growing 400 million years ago - today. (The tour guide was also really knowledgeable about the history of the gardens and gave an excellent presentation as we drove to the site)Written 28 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Steve WToronto, Canada29 contributionsMy wife would probably kill me if she knew I was writing this review... If you love just walking on the beach and crave finding remote places away from the crowd then check this beach out. We stopped here after kayaking up the Wailua River. With just a towel and a couple of beers we were able to enjoy the sounds of the crashing waves, take a long walk on the beach without seeing sole and even having a little snooze before heading home. Absolutely perfect for what we look for when traveling.Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Vincent SMargate, FL450 contributionsI did have trouble finding this beach. There is a road that leads to a small lot, but I could not find it. My GPS took me to a dirt road where a trucker said that road lead to a gated road. He suggested I go to CJM stables. Which I did. A dirt road where I parked on the side of the road. This is also where people park for the Makauwahi Cave Trail. Instead just head towards the ocean. It will open up to a nice scenic view of the beach. It took 10-15 minutes to get down to the beach. There a couple of fisherman. The beach was empty. No life guards.
There is a lone house that fronts the beach. Show respect.
There are woods that front the beach, so plenty of shade.
Another benefit of this beach is you can walk down where you come to a point you can see and visit Kawailoa Beach. To get here was about a 10-15 minute walk. Another secluded place. This has a side of the cove/bay of rocky oceanfront. There is a rock that has a whole in it (Not a sea arch, but almost).
If you wanted you could keep hiking, but you cannot go along the coast. You would get on the other side of Kamala Point. I did not go that far.
This is a cool place.Written 27 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Monique C24 contributionsGood shopping center. Shops are affordable and nice selection of shops. Parking is limited. I didn't think it was a place for small children.Written 14 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CatherineWalla Walla, WA159 contributionsWish the grill at our vrbo was hotter. Could buy fish in the center and lovely fresh veggies. Alas had to bypass food sellers and just sample white pineapple--extraordinary! And coconut curd. Yum. Lots of vendors, food bites from the local culinary school - which was also the cooking demo tonight - a salad with breadfruit, shrimp and pork belly. Delicious. A must do on Wednesday 330 to 6.Written 6 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LTVacayPuyallup, WA19 contributionsI walked through these gardens more than once and enjoyed it each time. So many beautiful orchids and other interesting plants, flowers and trees to see. Best of all it's free and was next to our resort and on the way to the shops and restaurants.Written 5 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
