- Tony BStawell, Australia6 contributionsWow, what a park, very very clean amenities, well keeped grounds, fantastic sites, and the best of both worlds.Written 13 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mairwen1United Kingdom9 563 contributionsThe main beach in Hawks Nest-Tea gardens area, this is a beautiful, long 14km stretch of white sandy beach.
It’s a classic surf beach with a short sandy path through the dunes leading you to a vast, open beach with crashing waves. It has a unique view, looking out towards the two offshore islands, Broughton and John Gould Island, with Mt Yacaaba at one end. It’s a very beautiful beach.
During the summer and holiday periods, the beach is patrolled and recent renovations to the Surf Life Saving club mean that there’s a new canteen where you can grab a coffee or ice-block.
The clubhouse also now has a brand new balcony and bar with expansive views up and down the beach. We haven’t quite figured out the opening hours yet, but if it’s open, head upstairs for an afternoon drink. Its a beautiful spot.
Apart from swimming and surfing, this is an excellent place to go for long, slow beach walks. Kids will still be able to find shells along the sand.
Other facilities include a free car park, change rooms and toilets, outdoor showers, a picnic area and lookout points next to the SLS clubhouse and a large park and children’s playground next to the beach. A very good bakery and milk bar back up on the main street, within 10 minutes walk.Written 23 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's definitely the thing to do if you are visiting Hawks Nest.Written 15 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
