- Julie C27 contributionsThis was an amazing experience. We chose to drive up to the viewpoint instead of hiking it because the weather was raining on and off. You take the turnoff for Cape Perpetua campground, but stay on the road to the left. A couple miles in, you'll see a turnoff to the left for Cape Perpetua lookout. There is a parking area and (not so clean) porta potty, along with some picnic tables. The trail is off the left side of the parking area. There's a couple of branch offs along the trail, but I think they all loop around to the same place. I believe the main trail is called "whispering spruce" and another loop off it called "Amanda's trail". The main trail leads to an old Civil Servant lookout that was used during WWII for a lookout. The trail itself is quite easy, but there are a couple of sections with mossy steps, so not a good plan for anyone with mobility issues. If you want more of a workout, there's a pullout on the north side of the road right after the fork with the campground. You can park there and hike up to where the trail connects with the trail from the parking area. It appears steep and a good physical challenge, although it was a gentleman who appeared to be in his 70's who told us about the trail as he was hiking up it. The view from the top seems endless. It's a much better part of the coast to see than the typical tourist viewpoints along the main highway. Well worth the effort!Written 24 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Julie C27 contributionsThis is very powerful to go watch. We were there at low tide, so I imagine high tide would be amazing. We tried to do this trail once before, but I wasn't physically fit enough to make it to the bottom, so we didn't finish it. This time we made it all the way down and back up fairly easily. I don't know if I'd recommend this with small/adventurous children as there isn't fencing to keep them away from sharp rocks and churning water. It rained on us as we hiked down, so there were parts that were a little slick. We loved it though and are very glad we went. Location wise, you could easily do the Cape Perpetua lookout and visitor center, Devil's Churn, and Thor's well all in an afternoon. We also wanted to do the Heceta Head lighthouse, but in October they're only open 4 hours a day 5 days a week and we couldn't manage to get there at the right time. Helpful hint: always get on google maps and check hours before you head out for places. The coast seems to run on it's own time and there's many attractions and businesses that have especially limited hours during the fall and winter months.Written 24 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lady GigglemugMonrovia, CA5 024 contributionsLovely local gem of a park - right on the edge of town in adorable Yachats. The park sits where the Yachats River comes in from the ocean so it’s a tidal area and changes greatly depending on the time of day. The views and wildlife are always great here.
You’ll find the trailhead for the awesome coastal 804 trail. This area is great for tide pooling (at low tide) and whale watching - and sunsets too! Fishing is allowed here within certain guidelines to protect local fish populations.
They have a well maintained viewing platform with interesting info signs all around. You’ll find lots of driftwood and fascinating natural rock formations created from the crashing waves like natural bridges and chasms- and even wildflowers in spring.
They have lots of picnic tables and some restrooms. The parking lot is huge and wasn’t crowded at peak season when I visited. It’s close to all the shops and restaurants in Yachats - so easy to find. Definitely a great stop if you’re visiting the area.Written 27 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura S55 contributionsMy husband and I enjoyed walking through this quaint little church! The volunteers that were there the day we visited were so friendly and told us all about the church and the museum. The church is only open from 12:00- 3:00 pm and is closed on Thursdays. It is definitely worth it to see it if it's open during the time you are there.Written 14 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - J TBurley258 contributionsLocated about 10 miles outside of town. Located on a dirt road, but well maintained. The bridge is at the end and many signs say private property. It is in great condition.Written 30 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Todd IDurango, CO271 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Farmers Market. Large variety of handmade crafts, foods, clothing and fresh fruits and vegetables. Everyone we saw was smiling and enjoying themselves, and we struck up conversations numerous times with folks we'd never met before, but somehow found a common interest /experience/bond that engaged us. All the vendors were personable, none were pushy to "sell their stuff." We both enjoyed some delicious crepes , and the smells from other food vendors were enticing. Highly recommended...go to it and you'll smile, a lot!Written 17 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
