I went on the overnight adventure with a friend to celebrate my birthday and it was just amazing. Highly recommend. Leo (our guide) was the best mix of being open to conversation and questions, and also allowing us to be quiet and just bask in the views. The sunset was incredible! The Perseid meteor shower was happening and we saw shooting stars with an almost unobstructed view. It was so quiet, I slept really well in the hammock (it helped having slept in my own many times before), especially with the under-quilt provided for warmth. I wish we had taken more time to appreciate the tree after we came down, because it was the star of the show! The hardest part was hiking to the tree - it's over a mile walk, uphill, with backpacks, and the second hardest part was hauling the backpack up, so if you aren't into that, skip the overnight and just come for the sunset (ie: no backpack).

REA supplied our group with exceptional guides Kaylee & Dani! They were very familiar with the area we hiked, and knowledgeable in everything backpacking! They had to modify plans due to fire areas and differing hiking abilities of members in our group (including myself), and did so with easy-going professionalism.
I would recommend REA for anyone's adventure, and if you're lucky enough to get Kaylee or Dani as a guide, they are awesome!

Four of us went up for my birthday including my 11 year old daughter. Easy drive up and pleasant check-in meeting the guides and learning the gear. 10 minute hike to a 230 foot Doug Fir which was set up with ropes to the top. We went up in groups of two and everybody felt that the pace was perfect. A fun trip up with incredible birds-eye views. Plenty of time up top (about 20 feet from the tip) to take in the views and feel the gentle sway in the breeze. Felt safe the whole time and no one ever got scared. Being next to the tree and with the crew makes you feel very comfortable. The trip back down is smooth and fun. They took awesome pictures throughout the adventure. They are all arborists and are very knowledgeable. Brought a picnic blanket to chill while the others climbed. Really a surreal experience that checked off a bucket list item that I didn’t even know was on the list!
