- DeehiHouston, TX343 contributionsAlberta Street was a food and street art gem. Lots of varieties to offer from street food to cafes to small eateries with Ethiopian, Nepalese, American, Mexican and more. Little shops with a mix of clothing to unique souvenirs and art work. Plan to browse for a few hours.Written 18 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ron SFort Collins, CO131 contributionsSo much to do so little time. I went there specifically to go to the Salt and Straw ice cream place. It was the best kept area in Portland. They had a lot to investigate but time constraints left me wanting a return visit. I think you will like this.Written 26 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PDXmilespointsPortland, OR382 contributionsGreat area local shops. Try the resturant 23 Hoyt. Very safe and pleasant to walk through day or night.Written 15 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- margaretcovPortland, OR314 contributionsA charming village with unique shops and restaurants. A few empty spots but new ones coming soon. It is a delightful place to stroll with friendly people and lots of dogs (some of the stores actually invite in well-behaved ones). And, don't forget the side streets such as the food carts in the French Quarter with two more delicious places across the street - Marcos and Grand Central Bakery. And for those who like the chains, to the east on Capitol Highway you will find a Starbucks, Blue Donuts and Little Big Burger. The locals love the place, especially on first Friday when the stores are open later, serving treats and beverages plus 10% off purchases.Written 31 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - billie19488 contributionsThis area is dog friendly, bicycle friendly and life style friendly. There are great restaurants in the area and a top notch walking, running and bicycling area. The Spring-water trail is fantastic.Written 29 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bryan HPortland, OR1Â 765 contributionsThe entire rest of the city operates rather simply on a north-south, east-west grid that's fairly easy to navigate. Whenever I have to bike or walk through this particular neighborhood, I end up always feeling slightly ill at ease ... because I can never remember how to maneuver my way through the diagonals and circles with somewhat identical rose gardens in the center. I bike a ways and end up staring at another rose garden that looks somewhat like the last one, so that I feel like I am making little progress -- while all the time, I am drifting further and further away from my destination I want to find on Division or beyond. I'm usually looking out for zooming bicyclists to notice the nice old houses and trees ... let alone the roses. Usually, I just feel lost. The only exception is that I try to get down there once a year around this time (October or November) to walk in the fallen leaves, which I find oddly relaxing.Written 11 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LostALot22Chicago, IL10Â 710 contributionsThere is really no reason to go see this. It looks like most of Chinatown is gone. Now it looks like heroin town. Lots of dirty people screaming at nobody. Creepy.Written 15 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Linda DPortland, ME2Â 534 contributionsBroadway, Park Ave... how can you go wrong? We walked through the area and got some great pictures of the theaters and buildings.Wish we knew more about it before visiting.Written 7 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Virginia SPortland, OR37 contributionsBroadway books is a small, independently owned bookstore in the Irvington neighborhood in Northeast Portland. It's surrounded by really good restaurants, many within a block or two, as well as a bakery, a florist, boutiques, and a good pub. This is a great bookstore. With Powell's in town, otherwise known as the Mothership of Independent Booksellers, the competition is stiff. But Broadway Books is still my favorite bookstore in Portland. It's about as good as a small bookstore gets. Wonderful, knowledgeable staff (the women who own it work there - their email address is bookbroads!), diverse and well thought out selections in every category (fiction, non, poetry, kids, you name it and you can find it there), enough popular lit mixed in with enough esoterica to make it really interesting, weekend readings and book signings, especially by local folks like Cheryl Strayed and Brian Doyle, among others. It's a great little bookstore; pay them a visit.Written 20 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
