The three vineyards we visited all gave excellent presentations of their wines and the selections were enjoyable. There were only 4 of us total on the tour so it was very intimate and we never felt rushed. The pace was ours to set. Wayne also brought along a lovely well thought out box lunch. They tailored our visit to our wine preferences and gave us a mix of wineries with tasting in high-view point wineries and ones with that plus personal meetings with the winemakers. All in all, a very nice time with easy communication before and during our day trip. From a larger ostentatious and beautiful estate to a small family owned vineyard. - Kitty C1 contributionThis tour is a must do. Alex was an amazing host and guide. We learned about the topography and history of the Gorge. It was a relaxing day with good eats and wine tasting. The hiking was perfect to see the waterfalls. Highly recommend all of our stops - Vista House, Doppio, South Hill Winery and Hood Creek Winery. - CJ112015Lexington, MA139 contributionsWe were a small group of 10: 4 friends in their 30s, a couple in their 30s, two solo folk in their 50s and a couple in their 60s with Shawn as the driver, guide, and all-knowing expert on many topics ( wine, the region, Oregon history, etc). It was a great day…we visited three vineyards of different sizes and were guided in the tastings by representatives at each. Shawn was helpful in laying out the day’s itinerary, facilitating the group buying lunch, providing boxes for us to take wine home ( he told us Alaska Airline has a “wine flies free“ program!) and then dropping us directly at the hotel with our box ( it was near the pickup place). He was great! We learned a lot about Oregon wineries, the soil, the history and of course developed a more refined palate! Went with my two sisters and my brother-in-law‘s from out of town and we all had a wonderful afternoon! The staff were amazing and very accommodating as three out of the five of us needed assistance boarding, and Departing from the boat. So glad we did this. Good town for lunch stop with many reasonable dining options. The pace of the tour was just right, never feeling rushed or needing more time. Our tour had only four people which meant little time spent boarding and un-boarding the van. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and overall a great guy. - Sarah G96 contributionsWe did a winery tour with Lost Plate Food Tours and it was phenomenal. We visited 3 tasting rooms: Battle Creek, Erath, and Fullerton. The magical thing about this tour was that Michelle curated a fabulous mix of wineries- a larger commercial winery, a small local family winery, and one that is middle of the road. And the best part- all the wines were paired with small bites that were equally amazing!!!Michelle was very knowledgeable about Portland history and we really enjoyed learning about the city.
