Unfortunately the experience was more a 2 due to flood damage.
Both sides of river flooded but passable if you don’t mind wet feet.
Diversion Route around Thorpe cloud like a bog and impassable with younger children.
Our two, 8 and 6, loved the scrambling over the rocks but didn’t enjoy when the water got deeper so we couldn’t get much further.
I’d give it a miss until late spring.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Lorna A3 contributionsWe had a day of activities for 10 people on a hen weekend ages ranged 31 - 69.
We did quad biking, laser tag, hot dogs and crossbows.Written 4 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I would imagine it would be even better if we could have walked around the lovely grounds. Nice little cafe and for a small price, the children can do a variety of craftsWritten 4 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ladybiker2012Malton, UK101 contributionsIncredibly cool place.
We went in the pouring rain after much rain fall so it was incredibly wet and soggy and overflowing but it was still awesome 😎👍🏼
Just a few minutes walk from the car park. Would be perfect for sunny picnics and playing in the water with the kids.Written 15 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is someone's home with beautiful gardens and area sectioned off by hedges and trees
There gardens has its own tennis court. There are plenty of benches to just relax on. - Charles_and_SusanNottingham, UK5 871 contributionsThis is often my challenge if I'm walking in the area. Either a shorter walk from Ilam Hall or a longer walk from Milldale along the river. Arriving at Thorpe Cloud and deciding whether or not to take up the challenge of walking up is always a difficult decision.
This time the waymarked route to the top had been changed since I last did it and if anything seemed steeper than before. Once at the top I was rewarded by a peaceful and quiet few minutes all to myself. The descent down the steeper slope was a bit of a challenge.Written 19 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But it's off station road opposite the entrance to Sainsburys carpark. The Tunnel Cafe is actually on top of the tunnel in Church Street. A quirky attraction and start of a cycleway/trail to Tissington.Written 22 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RachieShillitoDoncaster, UK335 contributionsWhilst visiting Ashbourne today we spotted this park from the car park, so we took our dog over for a wonder round. It’s lovely and much larger than we initially thought. There’s a good size field to let dogs off for a run around aswell as a kids play area, water area and 2 x table tennis tables. It’s right next to the cricket ground aswell and there are benches avail if you want to watch.Written 30 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
