This beach is so serene, the water is warm and clear. It’s definitely a place to decompress, and relax. Oak Island is very family friendly and perfect for outdoor activities.

Nice area to setup for the day - we walked up and down the point. Not a lot of shells and it wasn’t crowded but limited parking.

It is a lovely pier. It is a wonderful place to look down and see sting rays etc. swimming under the pier. Also, lots of fishing goes on and there is a place to clean your fish. Rent rods and tackle or bring your own. There is a nominal fee to walk the pier.

Oak Island lighthouse isn't your old fashioned lighthouse lived in by a little old man and his wife trimming the wicks. Rather, it's a more modern version of light house with LED lights and really works! The climb up is not hard, and done by stairs (rather steep), but it's really high up there, so if you are fearful of heights you better pass on this one. The view from the top is outstanding well worth the climb.

Located in on the property of a historic Civil War fort, this is a very nice conference/retreat center that is owned by the Baptist convention of North Carolina. There are motel style rooms, as well as dormitories available for rent. Located at the tip of Oak Island, water surrounds the property on three sides.

It was clean! It is now $2 per person to walk on the pier. The person taking money was pleasant. We went after eating dinner. Worth going!

For the past 3 years, we find great items every time we come. We always feel like we get a better than honest deal. Even if you don't buy something, stop in for some conversation. It will put a smile on your face.

It's a super cute little market with lots of fruit and veggies as well as local artists. I can't believe all the talent that was there... Got wine and a really cute painting of turtles on a map.

This is a let down. Very run down and not taken care of. It’s an ok path to walk a dog, but not a very good nature walk to stop and enjoy. More of a cut across to get to the beach.

This was a birthday present involving 11 and 13 year olds, and they had a blast. The ground staff and pilot were both very friendly and knew how to make it fun for the kids. The helicopter seemed safe and well maintained. Seeing the islands from the sky is a wonderful experience — beachgoers waving hello, pelicans flying at eye level, even a flyover of a Civil War shipwreck. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

THE place for fresh seafood! My kids love visiting to check out what the catch of the day is - and buy dinner! Also, Jon is very knowledgeable and active in the local efforts to protect the future of the fishing industry.

Took a 3 hour nearshore charter with Capt. Adam. The wind was too rough to go out in the ocean, but Capt. Adam still knew plenty of spots to put me on the fish. We caught 6 flounder, 2 blacktip sharks, 1 lizard fish, 1 speckled trout and 2 toadfish in the 3 hours. I would highly recommend Capt. Adam for his knowledge of the area and his ability to coach even beginner fishermen on the techniques needed to catch fish.

I wanted to book a couple's massage as a birthday present for my husband. Since we were vacationing at Ocean Isle Beach, I really wanted to book at the Sacred Willow Spa in Calabash. So I called...and called...and called. Over multiple days. Often no one would pick up and once someone answered and put me on hold, but never came back to the phone. So I looked into other places and that's when I found Beachin' Day Spa. The beach decor is cute and soothing. The actual room itself was pretty no-frills. There is no heated massage table, no darkened room, and only one thin sheet as cover (I know my bright red undies were on display the entire time). But, it was the best massage either of us have ever had. She did amazing things to my neck and shoulders. I'm so glad that I wasn't able to make an appointment at the other place because this was exceptional. I just wish we lived closer so we could go more often.
