- kraines16 contributionsThis resort is fabulous! From the great quad that was more efficient than other NC resorts with multiple lifts and awesome snow making and natural snow, our weekend was terrific. The all day DJ at the lodge made for fun for everyone! Peak Pies were some of the best pizza, cheesesteaks were amazing and the post skiing drinks were delicious! Super kind employees, clean facilities and just the best day! The new owners have really thought of everything! Thank you for the best mother son weekend!Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Wolf Laurel InnMars Hill, NC12 contributionsA trip up to Big Bald Mountain is an experience you don't want to miss.
Most of my Bed & Breakfast guests, staying here at Bald Mountain House inside the Wolf Laurel Resort, take a hike on the AT up onto Big Bald. There is private parking just off of the AT and it is only about 1/4 mile to the AT and another ten minutes up onto Big Bald Mountain (Elev. 5,516 ft.). I have had guests go up and back before breakfast in the morning or go for a memorable sunset.
If you do not have access through the Wolf Laurel gate (a private community) the hike is 15 miles round trip from Sam's Gap or 13 miles round trip from Spivey Gap on the AT...all the more reason to be a guest at Bald Mountain House Inn inside the Wolf Laurel Resort.Written 18 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I enjoy taking family and friends to many of the spectacular shows this theatre puts on, and their performers and management is unmatched! Great patron services and shows, with plenty of smiles and laughs along the way.Written 5 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sharon KKnightdale, NC77 contributionsGreat place to take the family. We loved the fact that you reserve your time slot. Saved us from having to wait. Also, the fact that they don't over pack the place giving you plenty of times to slide. We pre-ordered our hot chocolate and cappuccino and there was no wait. After tubing you can get marshmallows to roast over the campfire. Like that it was self-governed, and most people followed the rules.
Staff was very nice and polite. Parking was ample and close to the building.
Could have used more hay or soaking agent at the end of the run. We kept sliding into a large puddle of dirty, cold water. We left soaked but overall had a wonderful time.Written 2 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Bald Mountain Shelter is on the Appalachian Trail and is the only shelter between Sams Gap and Spivey Gap about 2.2 miles north of Big Bald, between Mars Hill, North Carolina and Erwin, Tennessee. Water is available at the shelter off a blue blazed trail; don’t stop at the first sign of water; there is a better source a little further down the blue blazed trail. A privy is located behind the shelter, and bear bag cables are located to the front. The shelter is a double decker and sleeps 10.Written 30 June 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Justin PRaleigh, NC4 561 contributionsI stopped here for lunch after hiking in Big Ivy. I had the BBQ sandwich and World's Edge IPA and everything was good. The brewery is in an old theater so it has theater with a big screen. Lots of games for kids too. Nice place, would stop here again if passing through the area.Written 30 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
