What travellers are saying
- Carol DRego Park, NY11 contributionsPleasant 2 hour cruise on the Pride of the Hudson. Crew were warm and friendly, there’s a drink and snack bar on the lower inside section. Ample seating up top although need to arrive early to get a seat. Well done narrative along the trip going up to West Point. We would do this trip again. For the cost it was well worth it !Written 3 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SquareGWappingers Falls, NY77 contributionsA very pleasant surprise ! Even if you are not a motorcycle enthusiast you can enjoy the richness of the exhibit. Motorcycles made in a shape you never dreamed of. A short description on many of them. A timeline sequence of bikes of the brand named Indian. And so on.
The place is easy to find. Parking (free) is just a couple steps from the entrance. Admission is free for those under 17 years of age, otherwise $15.

We didn't care for the $10 entry fee, especially given the price of the apples was already quite high, and I thought the cider donuts (as good as they were) also were kinda pricey at I believe $15 for a dozen.
That being said, everything else about this orchard was fantastic. What we like most is just how spacious and huge the orchard really is, along with how large a variety of apples there are. Even when it was at its busiest, we never felt like it was overly crowded, it was nice to walk around and have plenty of space. The apples themselves were plenty, from your classic Empire and Honeycrisps, to ones I don't see as much like Northern Spy and my favorite Jonagold (seriously, these are amazingly crisp, sweet, and have a bit of tart, go get these!). It's also nice that this place still feels like a family owned farm, as we used to go to Barton Orchards, but after awhile it began to feel like an amusement park while the apples and other produce felt less important.
Overall, a fun spacious orchard full of different apple varieties, and plenty of produce as well.Written 25 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The visitor's center has a nice group of exhibits, although the upper floor was just antiquity, not necessarily germane to Washington. Does not require a large investment of time.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RICART75Peru, IN2 423 contributionsWe stopped in to stretch our legs, after traveling several hours on our return visit to the Hudson River Valley.
The facility is a well-maintained and tastefully presented establishment; with a nice selection of items to browse and explore. The staff were welcoming and informative.
Though not so much to our taste; there was a strong representation of mid-century modern items from which to choose.
If one enjoys viewing a quality level of antique/vintage offerings; this location provides a solid option.Written 15 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eli HararyNewburgh, NY21 contributionsI have toured the Crawford House twice since we moved to Newburgh, and what an amazing piece of Mid-Hudson Valley History it covers. I highly recommend anyone visiting this part of the beautiful Hudson Valley, take the hour or two to understand the amazing history of this part of New York.Written 22 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John BSarasota, FL75 contributionsGrowing up in Newburgh, Downing Park was a bright spot in so many ways. So, it's sad to see the decline of this once incredibly beautiful place. The good news is that the "Polly" shown in the picture has been brought back to life. In warm weather it was an inviting spot for a wlak around the grounds, and ice skating in the winter was an obligatory activity. On the hill above the main green area a spectacular garden area was a beautiful centerpiece of early spring tulips and other seasonal flowers. It's gone now. The Park is worth a visit if only to let your mind wander a bit about what this place once was - an iconic American park designed by the genius of Olmstead.Written 21 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Colleen CTroy, NY2 517 contributionsDriving here was a little sketchy ~ follow directions from TripAdvisor ~ (the GPS sent us someplace completely wrong). Once we found it ~ it was a beautiful and tranquil surprise.
The community kids about 20 of them were there cleaning up the park which holds the Tower of Victory, the Headquarters where Washington stayed, a museum, the resting grounds for Ulsa Knapp ~ even a Liberty Tree that was Grown here from one of the 400 year old original liberty trees from Maryland.
The Victory Tower sets in the back right hand corner of the fenced in property. It has been to restored to its original look since a hurricane in the 40's ripped down the roof ~ the statue of George Washington which is inside the tower is missing due to being restored itself. Overall nice place to take a walk, picnic or sit and watch the Hudson!
Ohh if you want to go up to the top of the tower of even go into the museum you have to call the museum ahead of time and make a reservation. and free parking on the street and free to enter the grounds.Written 8 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff inside were well informed and shared their knowledge with us. There are two exhibits. One features the history of the Buffalo Soldiers including videos, artifacts and photos. Well designed and tells a most important part this African-American military unit played in American history. The other exhibit are the historical bicycles of the last 100 years or so. They were well arranged, smartly displayed and well maintained. Quite a few are truly remarkable.Written 16 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
