- jesse ssc5 contributionsThis small stockaded settlement "fort" was a wonderful discovery. It is tucked away in the lower Delaware River Valley in a tiny town you've never heard of, but which certainly deserves your time and attention. Over 50 years, I have visited hundreds of military forts and battlefields, original and reconstructed, pioneer settlements, and historical villages from coast to coast, and Fort Delaware is one of the nicest experiences yet. Small in size, but packed with interesting colonial era displays, dedicated reenactors , and fascinating exhibits make this a delightful and interesting side trip when you find yourself in the lower SE region of NY.Written 11 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - P F BEdison, NJ1 671 contributionsThis is my second drive thru the area this month. Well worth it. Very scenic with a number of stops along the way including Roebling's Delaware Aquaduct, Skimmer's Falls and other historic sites like the Corwin Farm to explore. Also several walking paths along what used to be the D & H Canal. The ranger at the Corwin Farm was very helpful with other things to see along the way.Written 18 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - nancysMyrtle Beach, SC34 contributionsThis is a beautiful area to enjoy the river at a fairly leisurely pace. We went a few days after a heavy rain, which makes the pace nice. The only issue is getting off the river after the Skinners falls rapids. It's a bit tricky to get over to the bank. And then it's extremely difficult to walk the narrow path (if you can find it) back to the parking lot. (We brought our own tubes, and left one vehicle at the top 《Damascus》and one vehicle at the bottom《Skinners Falls》Overall, it is a beautiful ride with wildlife viewing (we saw a bald eagle fly right over our head).Written 11 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - The MartiansHudson River Valley, NY28 contributionsFirst time doing anything like this for me and my husbands 10 year anniversary. We had a great time! The water was crystal clear and refreshing. Staff was friendly and we were so relieved that it was low key- meaning you are pretty much free to do as you please. So many attractions now a days are micromanaged so much that you cant even enjoy yourself. The rapids were fun. Nothing too intense, perfect for first timers. We used the tubes and did just the skinners falls bit 3 or 4 times. Its a bit of a hike back up but by time you get back you are hot enough to jump back in. Would love to come back and do it again!Written 9 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tim2 contributionsTried to book a trip with Tony in April, water was running too high. It was rescheduled to July, Tony cancelled again. Said he would refund my money. Never did. Lost my $200. Don't give this guy a cent through paypal until he takes you out.Written 17 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
