I went for a family fundraiser to help a child whose parent was a victim of an accident and left behind a child, the people that own the vineyard are the real deal above and beyond . My mom hand picked grape at this vineyard was I was 10 (before they owed it) and Im 55 rn. So proud that they put Conesus on the map and I hope that the community keeps supporting the Its bigger and the sisterhood and brotherhood when you walk in is amazing they are there to make sure your experience is the best .

The Finger Lakes are all wonderful, but as you go West there is a lot less hustle and bustle like near Lake Seneca. Conesus, Hemlock, Canadice and Honeoye all have their own feel. It is more hometown and comfortable. A view of any of these lakes from the public parks that sit on them is amazing. Natural Beauty at it's best.

Conesus Golf Club bills itself as a hidden gem outside of Rochester.
But this hidden gem needed some polish when we played in mid-September.
Lets start at the all grass driving range, a nice amenity.
But the grass was at least 2-3 inches tall and spotty, like hitting out of the rough. Some of the range balls were encrusted with dirt. (They can and should do better - provide clean range balls and just get a mower out there!).
The tee boxes on the course were disappointing. Too much dirt and not enough grass. How do you take a proper stance when your feet are on an uneven surface because of all the divots? Putting your tee in the ground was like trying to put it in concrete.
    Needed to be watered!
There were mounds/clumps of grass in the fairways and rough from when they mowed showing the grass was too long, and mowing isn't done on a regular basis. The course was in a dry spell when we played so no excuses about being too wet to mow. At least get a blower out there are break up this mess.
One green on the back 9 had at least 3-4 inches of mowed grass in clumps just sitting there covering the whole area behind the sloped green. Sloppy for sure!
The greens were decent and rolled true, about the only highlight.
The layout itself is nice. Trees and tight on the front 9 - more open on the back. Lots of hitting uphill to the greens on approach shots on the back.
You'd better be in good shape if you walk with a pull cart.
The course website offers a photo tour of all 18 holes which even some higher tier courses don't do. Kudos!
And hole number 10 is one of the prettiest you'll see anywhere around Rochester!
But the course obviously suffers from lack of attention to detail. Considering it's a 45 minute drive from Rochester, and there are plenty of other pubic courses in the area without all these problems, I'd rather pay a little more and get a better golf experience.
Hopefully it will be in better condition if you go.
