- Bruce Marshall12 contributionsGreat opportunity to learn about the African Penguin and the challenge that the species faces. The Penguins here are well looked after and some are permanent residents now. When they can be released back into the wild they are. There are also some captive gulls with only one wing each which are fun to watch. The sanctuary is looking to expand its purpose into looking after injured sea birds which is great too, especially those that can be saved after human interaction. Plenty of drinks to be bought and a reasonable selection of gifts from items of clothing, jewelry, books and fridge magnets to be bought in the shop. Gorgeous wines, fabulous platters and knowledgeable and friendly staff. He's also very knowledgeable about the area so we learned a great deal between the dunes. The crew was fantastic and we were happy with the amount of conservation education and importance of animal welfare to this group. - Claudia DLondon, UK14 contributionsGreat tour with amazing viewings of wildlife, lots of info about the animals and their habitat as well as the threats to their future. Seeing so many whales frolicking about with their newborns is an experience of a life time. The boats make sure they are not interfering with this at all. Everything is done thoughtfully and in line with nature. The company also works closely with the nearby penguin sanctuary helping to raise awareness about the penguins and other birds and how we can all help to keep them amongst us. - ZanSouth Africa3 contributionsI joined the volunteer programme go four weeks- and it was an enriching and exciting experience! The staff body were incredible, friendly and passionate. I enjoyed loads of shark cage diving, whale and seal watching and working at the penguin sanctuary. I would recommend the volunteer programme as well as a shark cage diving day trip. X2 juvenile great whites of 2.5m in size as well as x2 massive stingrays (family of the shark) came out to play on the day!!! A BIG THANK YOU to the skipper and crew for your friendly hospitality.
