We visited 4 stunning wineries where we sampled excellent wines and had a delicious lunch at the very scenic Tokara Estate. The day passed by so quickly as we were enjoying it so much.
It was a pleasure to chat with our guide John about the wines and South Africa in general. He was extremely knowledgeable and he definitely added to our experience. We could not have asked for a better guide.
We found the tour to be excellent value for money and could not recommend this tour more highly! While the heaths at the Outreach can’t be released in the wild, the charity is doing a wonderful job, breeding and placing Anatolian shepherd dogs with farmers to reduce trapping and poisoning of the cheetahs. We had a wonderful time with Tobias. - Kristina R24 contributionsI recommend getting a City Pass. It covers admission into so many things such as the cable car up Table Mountain. It gets you discounts on other things such as a guided wine region tour. When you get your hop on hop off (HOHO) bus ticket, you are given some headphones to keep which you plug into the jack at your seat and it narrates the route. You may sit outdoors up top or indoors down below. It was a joy just taking the blue route all the way around. The drive is very scenic and if you see something you wanna check out, simply hop off. Note: If you want to get the discount when making a booking after you already purchased your pass you would need to make that booking in person at one of the City Pass help desks which is on the HOHO route anyway. - ron y2 contributionsThis excursion was more than we expected. Our guide Callixte was first class from punctuality to his spotlessly clean car to his approach to ensuring we had the best experience.
The Cheetah experience was memorable and the wine tasting phenomenal. With the possibility of doing 4 wine tastings we opted for 2 so we could spend more time at each location and what stunning settings they were, recommended by Callixte.

- HorattioSouthwaite, UK10 contributionsWhere do I begin.? Wow, a truly memorable 3 days with our guide / driver Callixte who was punctual, a safe driver & very considerate to our needs. Having our elderly “Papa” with us, Callixte ensured that we had ample time to visit and get around without missing a single thing. We are extremely grateful to him for his patience and help.
The tour included many interesting and exciting places, Robben Island, Table Mountain, Hout Bay, Simons Town, great Vineyards in the Stellenbosch Region, the Castle of Good Hope (an amazing guide there with loads of panache), Penguins at Boulders Beach and a Cheetah Experience and much much more.
The best stops for photos were made en-route and nothing was too much trouble for Callixte to fit in for us.
All 3 of us whole heartedly agree that this tour gave us an in depth view of this amazing beautiful area of South Africa and would recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town. A really chilled out way to see the sights.

But the best part of the tour was our tour guide Liezel! She was simply amazing! I would do this tour a 1000 more times! - DANIELLE SCarrollwood, FL32 contributionsI contacted African Xplora shortly before we left for our trip as our planned tour got cancelled; they were able to accommodate my request with only a week's notice. Then I had to contact them again to change the date of the tour and again they said no problem. That was awesome! Remi was our driver for the day and he was waiting at our hotel right on time for pick up. We headed out to our first location and I let him know that we had already been to one of the stops on the itinerary and could we do something instead. He didn't tell us any plans at that time, but we did make an additional stop later in the day. Our first stop didn't go as planned as the Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre denied us entry as we weren't wearing boots and the ground was a wet from rain. We were very upset by this, but it was no fault of the company or Remi. We made all the other stops and we were just fine without boots! Since we missed the Giraffe House and the one other stop that we had already visited, we made a stop at the Babylonstoren Hotel and Gardens. The gardens were really beautiful and this was a great addition to the day's tour. We enjoyed seeing the lions at Drakenstein. Perhaps the best stop is Monkey Town where we got to participate in an encounter with squirrel monkeys. They give you bits of food to feed them and they all come to sit on you. To our amazement, the monkeys were very sweet.
Remi was a knowledgeable guide and shared history where ever we went. I could tell he was upset when the Giraffe House refused us, but he tried to accommodate us however he could. - MariusPlattekloof, South Africa1 contributionWe went for an engagement shoot. The whole experience was awesome. We felt welcome and comfortable from the beginning. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We dealt with 3 staff members who were extremely friendly and patient with us. Rico was our main instructor who took us out and explained everything to us in detail and some extra info on the farm. He made the whole experience 10 times better. We received photos and an amazing video the next morning, all included in the price. We had some refreshments afterward, where the staff was amazing once again. All very friendly. They even showed me the guns you can shoot that I am definitely going back for very soon.
