We had the most delightful, entertaining and festive Friday afternoon at Marbrin! A truly memorable experience learning about Olive farming, the process, passion and pure magic of making oils, tapenades and even limoncello. The homemade bread was amazing and also a tasty Chenin Blanc paired with our tasting, made for a great afternoon! We couldn’t have asked for a better end to our stay in Robertson. Highly recommended!

Springfields estate is lovely. There are a limited number of seats outside and near the lake. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the estate was packed. We found a corner inside to sit to enjoy your tasting. Life from stone was my favorite. For about $8, it was well worth it.

Even though I can't drink wine as I have a sulphite allergy, I thought the tour was very interesting. My husband really enjoyed the wine tasting seated outdoors under trees, and I enjoyed an Appletiser appreciating the fabulous views over the vineyard!

We last visited in 2018 which then was late afternoon and it was very hot.
This time after just visiting Nuy winery we popped in again to explore the shop full of luxury scented goodies, to enjoy coffee and cake, chat to the delightful owner and meet her lovely dog Ruby, the pup gained from Tessa(mother), who we know from staying at Excelsior Manor guesthouse.
This is such a pleasant stop. The soaps and ointments literally lavender scented purchased to take home again but this always seems like such a homely and welcoming feel. This is true serendipity...
Thank you for recommending Kleinhoekkloof winery, our pre-booked wine tasting and charcuterie experience was devine and those views...

On a very hot day we had lunch under the vine. The garden is really very special. But we miss Ouma's sweetcorn fritters.

Rietvallei Wine Estate has consistently been one of my favourite wineries in the Robertson Valley. My recent visit just confirmed this once again. The estate is beautiful, with lush green lawns leading into a covered seating area, perfect to relax at and take in the fresh air. We decided to sit in the cozy art gallery, which offered a unique and more sophisticated atmosphere. Coming to the stars of the show, Rietvallei has an impressive selection of wines, catering to different palates and budgets. While I enjoyed everything I tasted, I was particularly impressed by their Cinsaut and Cabernet Francs. We also decided to grab one of their platters, which paired well with the wines. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just an enthusiast, you are almost guaranteed a memorable experience while visiting Rietvallei. Definitely try and make a plan to visit while in the area.

This is a review written on reflection of an experience we had long planned. The 3-day wine walk was initially Covid derailed, then by friends who either exercised but did not drink, or loved wine but did not exercise!
Everything was even better than anticipated. The 3 nights accommodation, food and attention to detail afforded us from staff at Excelsior Manor House were all excellent.
The itinerary was thoughtfully planned encompassing 7 fantastic wineries, a river crossing picnic, a lavender farm, an olive farm and an evening blending our own wine. The weather played along too and everything fell seamlessly into place. All was set out ready and welcoming at each venue upon our arrival. We were never kept waiting. We were treated to wine tastings & food pairings whilst simultaneously getting first-hand information on the location and the produce from people who have a true passion for what they do.
Very professional yet not impersonal - this was a carefully crafted and organised undertaking from Excelsior that ensured we were so well taken care of. A thank-you needs to be extended to everyone who made this such a success.
Highly recommended, one must book early - word of mouth ensures this activity is booked up well in advance. That says it all!
Other wine walks are offered in the area but they are not really comparable to this flagship one.
We'd love to do it again!

Met our daughter here for a celebratory New Year’s outing. The Deluxe tasting option and the cheese and charcuterie board was a good combination. They brought out the champagne 2 glasses at a time. Explained everything well.

Esona winery tasting room is quite small although busy on the day we visited with a retirement party. We opted for the tasting given in the cellar which is a lot more expensive than the standard tasting, but felt you got little extra for the higher cost. The normal tasting gives you lots of good views over the vineyard and the valley for less money.

This is a classy vineyard with an attractive restaurant and shop on the banks of the Breede river. You can buy picnic food and wine and take a river cruise that lasts about an hour. We were lucky that the boat was only half full and had a relaxing time in beautiful weather. Bring a hat and sunblock. It is very popular so visit on weekdays or before the crowds arrive.

There is an amazing selection of fantastic art. We purchased pottery to take to the UK and the staff were incredibly helpful in building a very secure box to keep the pottery safe for travel.

Everything has been excellent. I really hope they get a proper rain some time soon, so that they will have an easier time maintaining their garden. The owners were very welcoming and the appartments very clean.

The food by the Belgian chefs was terrific and definately like a world-class restaurant, unfortunately the portion sizes are as well. So definately dont come too hungry for dinner or youll be disappointed.

My wife and I recently got married. We were meant to stay at another place in Robertson for our honeymoon, but it didn’t work out for various reasons. We ended up going to Fraai Uitzicht and we had such a great time. The cottages were fantastic with a fire place in the room, very comfortable beds and a beautiful view from our stoep. The staff were all very friendly, delicious food and wines and very helpful owners. Great location too, lots of wineries close by and hikes which can be done from the property. All in all a really fantastic place which we highly recommend if you visit Robertson.
