- Anne MIreland131 contributionsSo well organised. There are apparently six different routes. Apparently orange or purple is best. No idea how to advise you how to chose. We were allotted navy and it was great. The other thing is if you know which tour you will be on then you will have an idea where you ll b at lunch time and can pre book. We didn't and the 2 apparently best restaurants were fully booked. Need 24hr notice! Didn't matter. We had a lovely lunch at vrede en lust..but did ring on the day to book. You are given all the phone numbers. . Some wineries were more welcoming than others. Allee bleu stood out..with wonderful service good wine offered excellent breakfast and a very good gift shop. Skip Bartinney they treat the tram visitors v poorly with one lovely waiter trying to look after everyone. Some eg le pommier have 'drinking' wines for the tasting..but just ask if you want something better. The city sightseeing team run the day meticulously. Big thanks to both our guide Carlo and our driver Yaseen, who picked us up on time and also remained stand-bye, as it was pouring rain, but our small group decided to bike anyway.
Carlo is great and very knowledgeable about the history of the region as well as the wines. He also made sure we could warm up at the fire at each stop. Really good mix of wineries, my personal fav. is La Brie and it's Syrah.

We sampled 3 different wineries as well as a short train and tractor ride. Great value and well organised. Nicola and her partner created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, making the hands-on experience enjoyable. From mastering the art of spatchcocking a chicken with a perfectly balanced marinade, an introduction to local ingredients, not to mention how to clean a pan used for flat breads... every aspect was covered!!
What stood out was Nicola's attention to detail. The class was informative, engaging, and infused with Nicola's passion for cooking.
I will go out of my way to attend another class on my next visit. Whether you're a seasoned home cook or a culinary novice, this school offers an experience that is both enriching and enjoyable.

Oscar knows everywhere and everyone and was able to get us the best tasting experiences at all three wineries. He allows for a flexible itinerary and gives you recommendations for lunch, but gives you the flexibility to go wherever you’d like. Oscar is also like a private historical tour guide, and talked us through the history and significance of places we were driving through. Overall, the entire experience felt very white glove and we were sad to say bye at the end of the day as Oscar felt like a friend by the end of it.
