There are other, more tame and smoother boat rides in the Munising area to see the pictured rocks and all...but Riptide Ride is an ABSOLUTE GAS! Captain Tim & family do an outstanding job; well-run gift shop and smooth check-in; very thorough safety check and briefing. Then hold on for one wild & fun ride. Beats any rollercoaster! You get a a lot of details in the narration and Capt. Tim will allow the boat to idle and you can take pictures from either port or starboard side--so, every seat is a good one! Lot of high-speed "gentle" turns in the water and he will let you know when a wild and hilarious sharp spin-turn is coming up...getting wet's half the fun! So very glad we opted for this ride instead of the others, which I'm certain are enjoyable. But this one was a thrill and we 70-something senior citizens had a wild time! Thanks Capt. Tim!

You won’t regret a tour with the Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tours. The captain was superb and the staff was informative and very welcoming. We appreciated the additional local attraction information they shared with us so we could be sure to enjoy a complete experience here.

Our original date was rained out and the staff rescheduled it. We went on the 4 hour trip and had at least 2 full hours in the water which was just enough time. We had two guides for 6 tandem kayaks. James and Roman shared geological information, personal stories, and recommendations for other UP stops. They provided us with safe opportunities to paddle close to the rocks & into the sea caves. With the rudders, the sea kayaks were very manageable even for beginners, and the skirts kept our bottom halves dry. The colors of the rocks and water were amazing and worth seeing up close. Thank you Northern Waters for giving us such a fun, memorable experience.

Kaylee (our guide), the captain and the crew, provided an amazing morning excursion. From a state of the art boat, to knowledgeable comments from a home-grown guide, the trip was beyond our expectations. We’d love to bring family and friends back again. It was the perfect way to see Pictured Rocks.

Very organized and efficient. We were scheduled for Saturday night, but the weather forecast was not favorable. I called Friday morning to see if we could change our cruise day and they were friendly and accommodating. The cruise was a great viewing of Picture Rock and the boat and crew were great .

Had been on pirate cruises before but last one was a little scary for a three year old. This one is VERY well planned out with pirate lingo, swabbing of the decks, shooting water cannons, hunting for treasure and seeing a shipwreck. This was perfect for our five year old grandson. The crew kept children entertained AND safe as well from the moment we left the dock until we returned. Highly recommend.

We took the tour of the Pictured Rocks (skipped the waterfalls tour) Capt Phil was a very good, entertaining narrator and his two crew members were also delightful.
The Lakeshore park is very diverse and offers wonderful views of ancient layers of rock formations, beaches, caves and forested cliff tops. It would be spectacular in the fall! The boat appeared to be well maintained and was comfortable. We could sit up in the open, or down below.
I was a bit disappointed in the difference in the enhanced colorations of the photos and the actual hues in the cliffs however…

My boyfriend and I went on the Sunset Paddling Tour and it was better than I could ask for! Our tour guide, JD, gave us all the equipment we needed and showed all the tips and tricks of paddle boarding. He made it very easy, even for beginners! It started sprinkling when we started out but we decided to go anyway because there wasn’t a storm in the forecast. The sunset was absolutely breathtaking and he allowed us to take our time in or order to take it all in. The LED lights on the bottom of the boards were really awesome, allowing us to see the bottom and to float on “orbs of light”. On the way back, a very windy rainstorm hit us out of nowhere, blowing our boards in the wrong direction and making it hard to move toward the end destination. JD took charge very calmly and effectively. We got on our knees and he pulled us close to shore where we hooked our boards up in a line and he walked through the water pulling us behind him. He went extra efforts to make sure we were safe and still having fun, which we were!! We got back to the beach safely and we were laughing the whole time. I enjoyed every second and would recommend this trip to EVERYONE!!!!!

Carolyn and Domonick are so down-to-earth and approachable that it felt like we were hiking with friends and not just guides. I loved that it was a private hike for our group of 4. They were accommodating for all skill levels. The viewing spot was perfect and were lucky enough to catch one of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen!

The whitefish I purchased could not have been fresher. The service was great. They even helped me ice mine up for the trip back to my northern Detroit suburban home. Top notch in every respect.

From the moment we arrived at Pictured Rocks Kayak, the captain alerted us that due to the size of the waves, we may not be able to kayak the pictured rocks. Once we got out there, we all knew that there was no way we were going to be able to kayak there. The captain took us up and down the shoreline to allow us to see the sights and take pictures. After that, she took us over to Grand Island where the water was calm. We were still able to kayak along a beautiful shoreline for 3.5 miles and see some amazing sights. They were upfront with the probability of what was going to happen, they had an amazing "plan B" and automatically refunded a generous portion of the price as an apology for the lake not behaving. I would've loved to kayak the paddle walks, but I did not walk away disappointed and was amazed that they gave me money back without having to say anything. I highly recommend this company!

We participated in the paddle and hike tour. We had good luck but my sister on the same tour was not so lucky. While our kayak was fine hers leaked and the pedals for the rudder were broken. This led to her being soaked by lunchtime and freezing cold. To top it off while three of us received the lunches that we wanted my sister's was labeled turkey but ended up being roast beef which she cannot eat. The guiding was underwhelming - if you were not next to them you missed anything they had to say and they didn't say much. They didn't even point out all the different landmarks. During the hike portion they did not do any information sharing (talking about the forest, ecosystem, etc) at all.

Overall it was fun to kayak the coast but I could have done the hike independently. Equipment is hit it miss so make sure you check it out before you jump in a boat if you want to have a good experience.

we booked a dog sled trip for Dec 29, 2015. Before driving to his locaton, spoke to the elder Mr Johnson and he stated there was no snow. He told me he would send a refund of my deposit. Still waiting and no one answers the listed phone number
