- PCKLas Vegas, NV5 contributionsVery beautiful scenery! Worth the long drive. The boat ride is a must-see to see the cliffs and beautiful colors. The sunset cruise shows the best colors.Written 3 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- RJSJRMuskegon, MI176 contributionsThis was an amazing tour even though we were not able to see the ice caves. It had recently snowed and the hike would have been thru 3’ of snow so we spent the entire time at castle rock. We had a beautiful view of the rock, the blue ice and the huge icebergs below! We had to hike thru a little deeper snow but it was very manageable for the amazing shots. On a side note ice cleats and goggles were our savior!!!!Written 20 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Indy-NDSouth Bend, IN3 354 contributionsDon't even get out of your car if you are there in the summer and didn't bring bug spray. When we visited, it was horsefly season. They were huge and abundant. They left us alone for the most part. It was a nice hike to the falls. I don't think it was even a mile each way. The forest you hike through is beautiful.
Once you reach the falls, there is an overlook that allows you to sort of see the river from the top, but the good view is down some steps to a platform. It was really flowing when we were there. It's an interesting falls. The water sort of comes over the edge at an angle. You can apparently get to the bottom of the falls, but that wasn't in the cards for us. It was in the 90's and the bugs were ever present. I'm happy with my pictures from the platform.Written 15 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Indy-NDSouth Bend, IN3 354 contributionsMunising Falls is a short hike from the parking lot and Visitor Center. It's mostly paved all the way to the bottom of the falls. There are stairs up to get a higher view and a bit closer to the falls, which allows a different angle for pictures. There isn't a ton of stairs, so it's worth the climb. There isn't a lot of effort involved, which make this s pretty popular stop, so it will probably be fairly busy any time of the day.Written 16 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jen Solano d11 contributionsThis was a great place to view the sunset over Munising bay. The rain and clouds broke right before sunset so we had a gorgeous view, and a bonus rainbow behind us.Written 27 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Patrick P PMinnesota65 contributionsMy wife and I did the very short hike to this scenic litte waterfall in February, 2022. The path is dog friendly and the falls were beautiful (though not terribly big). The parking area is small and is just along the side of the road but easy to locate. The only downside of this is that the hike is so short .Written 11 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jen Solano d11 contributionsPlease do not skip this location! It is beautiful. Take pictures at the overloook and then head on down to Chapel Beach. So pretty! The water is a gorgeous turquoise blue!Written 27 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jen Solano d11 contributionsWe did not have mountain bikes so we opted for the 12 mile loop on the island. We took the 9am ferry over so we had plenty of time to do that. Take your own lunch as there aren't any places to get food. It is a beautiful island with a lot of history.Written 27 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Beth DFruitport, MI170 contributionsThis was super fun because we could walk across the falls area and hunt for rocks! Super easy to access.Written 18 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Teresa H6 contributionsWe camped at Pete's Lake Campground. The sites were well spaced out, beautiful trees, quiet, peaceful, clean vault toilets, and very friendly hosts!Written 31 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Indy-NDSouth Bend, IN3 354 contributionsLaughing Whitefish Falls is a bit out in the middle of nowhere. There were only a couple cars in the parking area and we only seen one group of people while hiking to it. It's not a bad hike, but douse yourself in bug spray. We ended up having the falls to ourselves when we got there.
You will end up at the top of the falls and there is a staircase with multiple platforms that you climb down to get to the bottom of the falls. I'm not sure what type of falls there are called, but it cascades down a hill as apposed to just falling over a cliff. The water fans out as it falls to the bottom. The flow wasn't that impressive when we were there, but I still got some cool photos.
Also, sort of pay attention when you are hiking to it. There was an unmarked fork in the trail on the way back that we sat and looked at for a minute before heading left (which was correct). I believe the right trail came back to the main trail eventually, but I'm not positive about that. I checked my phone GPS, which showed the trail, even without a signal, so that confirmed my direction. Just be aware.Written 17 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Piranha44Holt, MI793 contributionsHiked this and memorial falls the same morning. Fairly intense hike so know your limitations. Trailhead is on m58 at the intersection with Washington. There is a small parking lot on Washington that some were using. Trail is marked with blue diamonds on the trees. If you see a sign that says O falls. That's the one your looking for. The O stands for Olson which is Tannery.Written 29 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dave CIllinois1 322 contributionsSmall falls right off the main road coming into Munising. Really easy to miss if just driving by - but well worth an easy stop by pulling off the side of the road.Written 12 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Indy-NDSouth Bend, IN3 354 contributionsIt's a cool little place. The main room has information about Pictured Rocks and Munising on the walls. It was apparently an old bank as there is an open vault in the room. The other part of the building is a really nice gift shop. Since the actual Visitor Center was Covid Closed, this allowed me to get some of my usual souvenirs and also use the rest room. It's worth a look.Written 16 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Indy-NDSouth Bend, IN3 354 contributionsThis is a private falls, which means you are going to be paying to see it. I don't recall exactly what it cost, but I remember thinking it was a few dollars too expensive for what it was.
The falls are pretty, but Munising Falls down the road is much more impressive. You can gut up close to this one and the trail up to the cliff is pretty. Luckily, there are a few extras you get to do. There is a fish pond where you can feed the fish. There are quite a variety of trees and plants and information posted about each species. They had some sort of scavenger hunt for the kids to do, which we didn't mess with. My 17 year old wasn't into that. The gift shop was pretty nice and they did have ice cream, which was pretty good.
All in all, it was a good stop. The grounds are very nice and offer a lot of photo opportunities. The falls are not as impressive as the nearby free stops. I wasn't disappointed at all, but thought it was a bit over priced, even though there was only 2 of us. I'm glad we stopped as I would have been annoyed with myself for missing pictures of a water fall that was easy to get to.Written 16 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
