Having read about the Japanese raid on Trincomolee and Colombo during WW2 and the loss of over 600 men, 20 ships and one of our aircraft carriers, I really wanted to come and pay my respects at the War Grave Memorial and really enjoyed the experience. The staff that tender the graves are a compliment to the War Grave Commission and do a fantastic job remembering those who gave their lives

The temple was very colourful with attractive statues and paintings all over the walls and also on the ceiling. The Kovil is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali and specifically to Badrakali Amman. It has a central Shrine and other shrines are placed on either side.It is very sacred place and we saw some devotees praying..It has a Dravidon architechture.Swami Rock can also be seen from there. It is located closer to the Hindu College beyond Koneshwaram road Esplanade near the Koneshwaran Temple

Lovely place to visit. In October very quiet beach. Lots of place closed but still some great places for eating. Beach was clean and sea was stunningly warm.

Very friendly owner and beautifull store. I have been travelled 3 weeks around Sri Lanka and this boutique is trully exceptionnel. So many nice dresses, pants, shirts and souvenirs... The owner is a dress designer who wants to create affordable clothes for any type of women and men. This boutique is located on the beautifull beach of Uppuveli, that is called the local Beach. I ll be back, for sure !

I was able to observe the rich culture of Sri Lankans and their medical remedies. I was able to see "Medical Boat /Canoe", medicine grinding spots, where our traditional doctors treated our community with their won knowledge

Nice to learn some Portuguese history. Also visited the temple at the top. If visiting the temple please note you have to take your sandal off and go bare feet for approx 100 metres. The ground was very hot to walk on, so take some socks to put on to prevent scorched feet.

This is one of a unique place where you can find in Trincomalee. Sand of the beach is really different from the other beaches. My view is that it’s better to visit the beach in the evening.

It is an ancient temple. It is considered as one of 15 of the holiest temples in Sri Lanka.
King Kavantissa who reined in the South was in fear of invation by intruders and he came to the Eastern area and made a Stupa here ensbrining relic of Lord Budda in the 2nd century BC..
He kept 500 monks here then.
This can be reached by carpeted roads from Kantalai or from Trincomalee.(arou d 43 km). You can get an additional attraction by travelling through the forest.
This in the village of Thoppur in Muthur.
There were picnic crowds and other locals seen worshiping.
You still can see Elephant statue entrance, milestones, sculptures stone lotus, remains of an old buildin on pillars, carved stone door& Bootree shrine.
It is an serine place and looks beautiful.
In 1922 , Sumrdakara thero discovered this Stupa and Archeological Departmentconserved it in 1931 and Stupa was opened to public.Around 85 acres arpund the temple is pronounced as Archeological reserve in 1962.
