Gene Testimony Hall here. Excellent experience! First time back since the pandemic restrictions lifted, and my wife and I brought our grandchildren. THEY LOVED EVERY BIT OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN FOCUSED DISPLAYS, especially the ones that resembled their artistic mindsets!!!!! Of course, I only showed the picture with my granddaughter engaging with the artwork for privacy, but she has drawn a similar image in her artistic time, so she could truly relate! Then, of course, we ended our day with a lunch date in your Café, where the staff was nothing less than EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You, DIA for updating the art experience with art our African American children can relate to. My wife and I truly appreciate this understanding! Though we appreciate the knowledge of African history, our children are (in fact) born in America, and have a life outside of slavery!

    Sincerely,
    Gene Testimony Hall

First get a reservation. We did not have one so had to get there an hour before opening to see if we could get in that day (line for people with no tickets very long). Thrilled we were first in line and could go in. Our guide was really very personable and made The whole experience memorable. I personally know very little about the genre or history so found the history fascinating. We learned how the business started and how the musicians became a community to ensure success. Guide knew great stories and facts which enhanced experience. Motown still owns the museum and original recording study next door. Highly recommend.

Detroit has definitely upped their game and it shows. I was truly amazed with how great eveyrthing looks and how clean the riverfront is compared to years ago. Biggest drawback, however, is the lack of public restrooms. This is an absolute must - there are NONE!

Been going to Eastern Market since I was a little girl back in the 1960s. Our family would drive down every couple of weeks to shop for vegetables and fruit. In later years, my husband and I would drive down for Flower Day to buy flowers, shrubs, and more to plant our garden for the summer, as well as purchasing meats at the nearby Gratiot Central Market and other markets, and cheese at Hirt's. We've enjoyed meals at the many restaurants in and around the Market. We've enjoyed music at Bert's. In recent years, we've come to enjoy Eastern Market for the produce vendors, but also for the Sunday markets, the Thursday evening events filled with music and people and art, and such special events as the annual Detroit Book Fest and those associated with Detroit Design Week. You can park in Eastern Market before heading down to the Dequindre Cut, enjoying some Bea's Lemonade, and then stopping for a bite before heading back home or maybe some shopping at some of the retail and resale establishments. Most recently we stopped in Eastern Market on a brisk February day to get a taste of the Paczki Party at the Detroit City Distillery! Of course, any visit to Eastern Market is brightened up by the Murals in the Market! They brighten up the Market and promote diversity and discussion. For history of Eastern Market, check out the Saturday morning tours offered during the summer by Preservation Detroit. And don't forget to look down as you walk...you might come across some of the pothole art! No matter the time of day, the day of the week, or the time of year, Eastern Market has something to offer! We always bring our out-of-town guests to see the Market for a taste of Detroit!!

Amazing journey to the past, I personally have an affinity for older structures that carry significant history. This was the site of the first Model T and there are many horseless carriages in this museum to get your fill, especially if you are a car enthusiasts...we did the guided tour which takes approximately 2 hours, but it's very insightful...enjoy!!

Absolutely wonderful. Really a must see if you like art deco or/and architecture. You just walk in from the street and get awed by the lobby

Nice to find a clean, family friendly, park on an island in the river between Detroit and Canada. Enjoyed the conservatory and aquarium.

Went to Tigers game on 4th of July. Had much fun, even in Covid. Game was not that crowded because Tigers are not that good this season.

We watched the Lions and Bears game on Thanksgiving day. There was a towel give a way too. Check in was pretty fast. No bags are allowed. The seats were really great. The prices are very high like any arena venue. The food choices were good.

We have the most amazing and beautiful city. So much to do and see. Would recommend a trip down there several times to see it all take in a ballgame or just go to the clubs so much fun to be had.

I spent some time at the Campus Martius Park during their holiday lighting season, so it was very beautiful. All decked out in holiday lights and small local shops. It is clearly an annual tradition to have this area decked for the holidays, and it is worth a visit when you are in the city during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Between ice skating, holiday movies, drinks and shopping you can certainly spend a bit of time taking in the sights. I would say that on a nice day you could spend an hour or two walking around this area and taking some photos. I can't speak to what this is like during a non-holiday season, but clearly during the holiday season it is worth your time to walk over to.

Spent 3 hours there with my 12 year old and really enjoyed it except that the historical part was closed, they were doing loud construction and we couldn't hear some of the videos and the cool body drop assembly line feature wasn't working. Considering the museum is closed M-W, it should all be working. We at least snuck into the historical part because we wanted to know the history and why it was named Detroit. That part should be opened right away even if they are working on part of it, that it was completely closed was poor.

Didn’t get to go inside since the shows were not opening until mid September. But it’s great to see that things are coming back to normal. Will have to come back
