- Marcus NWashington DC1 contributionMuseum dedicated to the fascinating history of the duck hunting industry on the upper Chesapeake Bay. Traces changes in technology and technique to the eventual elevation of duck decoys from a tool to an art form. Worth visiting.Written 26 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- justlucy123Lancaster, PA114 contributions$3 to enter self-guided maritime museum on the Havre de Grace Promenade. Lots of Havre de Grace maritime history including model ships and artifacts. History of the Conowingo Dam is very interesting as we have driven past it numerous times. There is also an area dedicated to John Smith's exploration of the Chesapeake Bay.Written 28 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bill BBel Air, MD8Â 194 contributionsSignage from the main Route 155 to the Stepping Stone Museum is clear. It is located within Susquehanna State Park, meaning one could make a full day of sight seeing in the area. One is "welcomed" at the entrance of the property by old farm equipment. One drives slowly past the main house and outbuildings to the parking lot where one is again greeted by a coop of very large chickens. There are paved paths that make the walk around the well kept grounds easy. One can see outbuildings that aid in the smooth running of a late 19th Century farm like the blacksmith and woodwork shops. From the back of the main house one looks out into the forest and can even see the river. Don't forget to collect a brochure highlighting upcoming events near the door of the main office.Written 25 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bill BBel Air, MD8Â 194 contributionsThe Havre de Grace Colored School Museum and Cultural Center was the first high school for African Americans in Harford County. The school was established over 110 years ago as a white frame building in the center of the well maintained property. A larger brick addition was extended in the 1930s toward Alliance Street. The school hosts community cultural events. The museum can be visited on appointment. One can see displays tracing education of African American students in the county and state from the post-Civil War era. Effort to improve the structure as well as organize educational and cultural events continue apace.Written 24 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bill BBel Air, MD8Â 194 contributionsHarmer's Town Art Center is a work in progress on Market Street. The name of the arts center recognizes the original town designation of Harmer's Town before General Lafayette renamed it Havre de Grace during the Revolutionary War. Today we see huge murals of local historic buildings and landmarks at graw alley artist park. Viewing these historical depictions is a good activity to add to a visit to the nearby weekly Farmers Market and the waterside Hutchins Park. Space that will become offices and studios for tge center are currently occupied by antique shops. A large mural brings to life Maryland's long history in horse racing. The Town played a major role in the War of 1812, and this is also featured. Looking forward to continuing development of the site.Written 25 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
