The town is very picturesque, with a lot of huge green trees and flowers, nice parks, very active shopping streets and a lot of places to eat or just to sit and relax.

Even the drive INTO the national park was great - saw about 7 para gliders coming off a huge cliff face - and beautiful waterfalls and the river along the way.
The drive to Raspberry Creek car park - the start of the trek - is through valleys with spectacular mountains on either side.

It’s pretty easy going along the river valley and very scenic inside the park with snow capped mountains, towering craggy rock formations, glimpses of glaciers and waterfalls.
My husband and I drove our camper van over to Mount Aspiring National Park for the day and took the Rob Roy Glacier hike, which provided us with a few hours of challenging and beautiful trails!

I was lucky enough to have a "local" show me around this beach, but the walk is pretty easy from the car park down to the beach and very dramatic the first time you see it.

Glacial runoff is just so fascinating, and mesmerising when you are presented with it through New Zealand's Mount Aspiring National Park at the Blue Pools walk.

We travelled from Roxburgh Village and were pleased that the (only) steep hill is at the start of the trail while we were still fresh - although those with vehicles can drive to the car park at the top of the hill).

Natures Wonders Naturally is a privately family run nature reserve, carefully and sensitively tended keeping visitors and animals completely separate.

Its wonderful that these birds can go somewhere protected to have their chicks and that people can have the chance to see nature at its best without disruption to the birds.
You can walk to viewing points near the car park and see several species of birds but taking a guided tour is definitely recommended.

This place vastly exceeded our expectations, with great viewings of rare Kiwi and Tuatara as well as excellent Nature presentations. the staff are friendly and well-informed.

This field has terrain parks, some short steep pisted runs, great off piste runs with a free shuttle back to the top, a few hikes to viewpoints and chutes and the best views around.
Personally, my favourite runs are up Shadow and Sugarbowl Chairlifts! Plus, sugar bowl has an amazing terrain park which is loads of fun, so give it a go!
