If you are even remotely interested in art, you want to visit the Art Institute. The collection is so vast that you can easily pick one particular era and still spend half a day, or like we did just breeze through and check the highlights of whatever is to your liking.

Our 5 year old is very much into engineering, we came to the museum 2 days in a row because he wanted to see everything. It was worth paying twice.
The website advertises exhibits (there’s a lot) for extra costs. I recommend not buying any ahead of time unless there’s a must see for you. When you arrive you can just buy the exhibit tickets there, although occasionally they sell out or you have to go at a later time. We went on a Weds & Thurs.

On the day of our visit, there was no line due to being cloudy “with no visibility”. We decided to go up anyway since we had the city pass. To our surprise, we had a good view for a rainy day. I bought the pictures and video because I wanted to capture the whole experience, but it was not worth it for the $$.

Not sure you can visit Chicago for the first time without getting a selfie here.
Busy spot but a quick and easy stop when wandering through Millennium Park.

Millennium Park was our first stop on this visit to Chicago. I had 4 teens with me- ages 15, 16, 17 and 18. They spent more time than I expected at the Bean (Cloud Gate). I guess it was very instagram-worthy. We walked around a bit and then decided to play mini-golf, which was a lot of fun. We walked around a bit more and there was plenty of other stuff to do, including rock climbing wall, yoga in the park and lots of walking trails. The only thing that would have made this even better would have been live music like you see in Central Park in NYC.

We especially enjoyed theses exhibits but wish we had more time:
    - native lands (Ancient Americas)
    - world of colors
    - jurassic undersea
    - underground adventure
    - 3D Movie
    - Maximo bones
    - Egyptian tomb

Picture of the south outside and several inside are attached.

This was my second visit to Wrigley. My first visit was in 1986- and I fell in love with baseball at that visit. My return visit couldn't have been better- Cubs won, weather was perfect, seats were great, easy to get there via the L. It won't be 36 years before I return again!

The river walk was great. Lots of shopping and nice restaurants. Make sure to visit the marina park.

We really enjoyed our walk on the river. It was nice to be close to the water and to see the kayakers and boats go by. We ate at a cafe that was WAY WAY overpriced, but at least the food wasn't bad. There were a good amount of people around, but not overcrowded. It felt alive and it was nicer/different than walking on the street level sidewalks.

We found this little gem while searching trip advisor for attractions. Being a free zoo we didn't know what to expect. The exhibits were very elaborate and well kept. The park was extremely clean. They had/have an amazing array of different animals and mammals. Very glad we visited.

The architecture and content in this former library is worth the visit. Don't miss the restored glass domes, staircases, and interesting Civil War exhibit

This was a wonderful surprise find! The house is painstakingly restored and full of Art Deco objects and Tiffany glass. Walking around in it feels like being in an episode of your favorite historical movie or tv show. Even the guest bathrooms have period accurate fixtures! This is an experience! Have already recommend it to everyone we’ve met since.

I love conservatories and try to go whenever a city has one. This one was quite nice and a welcome reprieve from multiple days spent in the city. Not crowded at all. Parts of it could've used better signage as it was a little confusing to get around. Overall, if you have limited time this wouldn't be top of my list but we enjoyed it.

Superb exhibits and plenty to see and do on a rainy day in Chicago. The variety of animals and sea creatures is excellent and all the information is really educational. Only downside was the amount of people in at one time and that people were allowed to walk round eating and drinking.
    Fantastic day overall.

Renting bikes from the city bike share and biking almost the entire length of this trail was the highlight of our trip here. The bike lanes definitely get crowded during rush hour but it was so cool to see locals actually getting to use bike lanes in a functional way (Boston, take note). The views were beautiful.
