What travellers are saying
- TravelingFamOmaha, NE631 contributionsOur Teen boys really liked this and they aren’t usually museum or history buffs. I wasn’t expecting much, but Wow was I wrong! It was the highlight of our trip. We took the Yankee Freedom out (see that review). Time on island seems a little short if you take the ferry, but just use it wisely. Every trip back to the boat to change, use restroom or get drinks is ~20 min round trip. Do that all at the beginning ) Take a water bottle with you and have swim suit on or change into at lunch. We’d recommend:
1)Hit the gift shop and visitor center before the guided tour starts to save some time. Do the tour, especially if it’s with Carrie. Then do some more on your own up to 1.75 hours. 2) go eat before they close .5-.75 hours.
3) Do a bit more fort touring on your own.
4) Finish with 1+ hour snorkel or swim, if you want. (The snorkeling on our day was not very good — cloudy and too many jelly fish) We got back out and did 30 more minutes at the fort.
5) back to the ferry.
Book in advance!! Maybe months. It’s not a trip you book the morning of or day before. I didn’t like the ferry price but afterwards it was well worth it.Written 4 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I'm glad we did. We had more time to really look at everything, and obviously spend more time with the cats. Definitely recommend!Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Erica25 contributionsMy husband and I stopped in, just to see what it was about. It was mesmerizing! Definitely stop by, with or without children.Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- 4281CarolGLos Lunas, NM311 contributionsTHis is what a part of Key West is all about. The shops and restaurants gives the street the high energy it thrives on. Need to make it a must when here.Written 9 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Teena JCoal City, IN14 contributionsHouse has great a/c! Wish there were more of the house on the tour. Would like to see the kitchen. Bob was great and the lovely lady taking admission too.Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cari WSaint John, IN378 contributionsWe drove from Sanibel to Key West and truly enjoyed the experience. - 1234danLake Norman, NC13 contributionsThis is a great beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas. There r food and drink options but we didn’t try those. The beach is very clean and pretty. The water is clear. It is rocky to walk on at first but then it is all sand. Great way to spend the day. We walked from here to Santiago’s tapas for the best dinner!Written 12 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brett J3 contributionsIt was a very cool experience! The staff on board were helpful and extremely friendly. They also told us more about the ship and some fun facts which I thought was a nice touch. If you are in the area and looking for something fun to do, the self-guided tour was great! If you are sensitive to the heat, perhaps try going on a cooler day as some areas of the vessel were warm (just as a heads up).Written 7 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erica25 contributionsThe lighthouse was cool, just make sure you look to make sure no one else is on the stairwell while trying to go up or down. It is very narrow. The view from the top was nice. The keeper's quarters was a quick walkthrough, but still had great history to read about. I would recommend, especially if you've never done a lighthouse museum before.Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cari WSaint John, IN378 contributionsFor such a big tourist destination, the actual photo op isnt that great. The neighborhood surrounding it is worth seeing, but the Point itself isnt that exciting. Plus, its really NOT the Southernmost Point of Key West. The Rocky Beach by Fort Zachary Taylor has far better views.Written 8 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael N2 contributionsThis is a truly wonderful place and it's free "although I always drop something in the donation box" with a small movie theater that show a 20 minute very well done movie about the marine environment,a mockup of an undersea laboratory you can go in and an aquariumWritten 11 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
