You need to see Sandy Cove dock and harbour and also the amazing beach on the north side of the highway (a bit of a drive but keep going, it's worth it)
The sand is lovely and we spent hours decorating our driftwood "horse" with awesome found beach stones and seaweed.

There's a walking trail through the woods just off the beach and a picnic area next to the parking lot! Layer your clothes and bring mitts and a scarf!
I love taking the kids and the dogs for a walk down here; I prefer the area in the fall myself but this is certainly a popular beach in our city.
