First thought....if you are visiting from out of state and you have any kind of military status (active, retired, disabled, etc), make sure you have the proper California accepted identification to enter this State Park.

The gal at the front entrance would not take my husband's 3 different types of identification proving he was in the military, medically retired, preferred status and drivers license that shows military veteran. It was quite intimidating to hear her refuse all of that just because she was looking for the California blue sticker or something. Seriously?????

Other than that, Patrick's Point has been a family vacation spot since the early 1970s.

We have loved to spend hours on end sitting on agate beach searching for agates.

Any time of year is perfect. They have camp sites for anything from tents to RVs. Just check hookups, availability and length limits.

Recently, we visited while on our motorcycle vacation.

The beach is expansive and beautiful with many large offshore rocks. It is a good beach for surfing. We were there on a spectacular evening, witnessing a vibrant sunset along with a full moon rising.

Rule #1: don't trust your GPS map on this one! Ours brought us to a parking area high above the beach - a pretty view, and a long trail down, but you can drive right to the beach if you just go through the town. It is a beautiful spot.

This is more a local spot and you can expect to see people of all ages (clothes or not - who cares). There are no facilities and no lifeguards. You should plan carry in/carry out and consider that the trail is steep in spots. It is a beautiful location! The sand shimmers like gold to the left of the cove. Perhaps it is.

We only visited one beach in this beautiful park and we intend to go to other locations in the future. We were greeted at the turnoff to the entrance by a massive herd of elk grazing by the side of the highway. The beach was spectacular with driftwood logs and no footprints. We also were blessed with a whale sighting.

We were travelling along the coastline and saw sign of this place at Redwood Highway 101 so we decided to visit this place. It was very peaceful place, only a few people were on the beach and we stood there watching waves hitting the stony beach and enjoyed the view. Unfortunately we didn't have too much time to spend there and walk on the beach but what we saw was amazing nature. There is a car park and an outdoor barbeque area for the visitors.

What an incredible place - and SO many great wine options. To be fair we only tasted their reds, but all were quite good. The staff, Don (winemaker) and Hayley (wine expert) were fantastic. An absolute must do visit.

This is a great hike out to the historic lighthouse. It is not open all the time so be sure to check their schedule. A knowledgeable staff person was available to answer questions. You are able to climb inside the lighthouse when it is open.

Be careful the stairs are not maintained very well so it is a little tricky getting out to the point, but worth it for the views!

Great little gallery in the tiny town of Trinidad. Most of the other shops are very touristy, so it was nice to find something with authentic, local souvenirs. Great variety of types of art at a nice price range. We didn't find a Christmas ornament anywhere else on our Redwoods trip, so we purchased a ceramic piece that will stand in nicely. A must see in Trinidad!

This harbor is a place with many personalities, depending on the level of fog on any one given day. The harbor has a little beach, with large rock in the water and many sea anemonies clinging on and ringing the bottom of the rocks in question. A small place but very pretty

What a great museum with many interesting displays on Trinidad history and culture. Staff was very knowledgeable and eager to answer any and all questions. Make sure to walk around the native plant garden, it's very pretty.

Wedding rock is a nice short walk out to the actual rock. You get great views of the surrounding coastline and the ocean. There are some steps that due to erosion are a little bit hi but overall an easy walk out to a beautiful viewpoint. Definitely a place to stop along the coast
