This is an absolutely beautiful beach. Lots of good walking areas, beach is perfect, rocks and hills around as to the scene. Saw lots of beautiful dogs and people.

Located just to one side of Dana Point Harbor, this ample expanse of sand has so much to offer: picnic spots, camping, restroom facilities, volleyball, and much more. It is a favorite of the homeless folks, too.

This bad rap review is from eight years ago. They replaced the filtration system and the water is fine. This is the PERFECT beach for families with little ones, paddle boarders, swimmers, etc. We are locals and we’re there all summer with our Grandkids!

We went at high tide plus a yellow flag so we didn’t do much swimming. It was still a super nice day at the beach. Beautiful location, free parking and lots of stairs!

I grew up going to this beach and was disappointed to see that a lot of the beach areas are gone and replaced with boulders. If you are visiting here, make sure you go at low tide.

Noticed this beach a few weeks ago while driving on the PCH, so we grabbed a parking space on the bottom of Camino Capistrano and used the crosswalk to check it out. There is a “stream” that runs off into the water that looks like a sewer outflow, other reviews here suggest it may include sewage in times of rain which we aren’t getting now.

Beach is reached by stairs and a metal walkway that lead to a very rocky shore. To the left is a private Beach Club, to the right are fancy homes that may not be there in ten years. Technically you can’t walk past these above the Mean Tide line, wherever that is. Effectively when you are within a couple hours of high tide you can’t pass more than a few of the houses as the waves reach their pilings.

Water was warm and the sandy areas were nice, but limited. You can walk about a quarter mile to the south but you will want shoes as it is all stones and gravel.
