- ErrolP169Oudtshoorn, South Africa2 contributionsAmazing views and such a nice spot to just enjoy nature and BIG SKY country ... the drive from Graaff Reinet a short one and certainly worth a visitWritten 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andre HCape Town, South Africa424 contributionsWe visited 19-21 Feb & made a few day trips to the Park . Takes about 45mins to do the route which is flat. The area closer to the river was out of bounds as the Sundays river had flooded & for a few days only 4x4's were allowed in .
The check in process at the gate was simple , did not have to go to a reception to get a permit. We also had a Wildcard so entry was free
Animals were a bit skittish and many ran off as we got closer. Most common game we spotted were kudu , buffalo , wildebeest , zebra ,mongoose , ostrich , springbok , blesbok , eland .
There is a picnic spot & a toilet along the route which is fencedWritten 7 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Samantha HendricksCape Town, South Africa1 contributionIf you want to taste the Karoo, a stop at Afrikanis Rum Tasting Room is a must. I was converted to drinking rum after this experience. They take you on a journey of how it was created, where the name came from and burning spice and flavored ice that enhances the taste of rum.
The space allows any size of groups for tasting and it interleads to restaurants next door. Friendly staff and a nice touch from the owner Dawid with his interesting Toerboer stories.
I will definitely go back and send some friends too.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As in many SA places, they polish their churches even if the town starts to run down.Written 6 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jill dPort Elizabeth, South Africa2 551 contributionsThis collection of exhibits is housed in yet another heritage building, constructed around 1820 and is now incorporated into the Graaff Reinet Museum Complex. My husband enjoyed the display of antique photographic equipment, while I found the photographic display of the early settler life in the town, very insightful!
There is a walk-in strong room at the back of the building, where an impressive selection of hunting rifles is kept - not so impressive was the poor dead lion, whose head and skin forms part of the decor of the room.Written 16 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marc DerveeuwOstend, Belgium423 contributionsThe "victory Peace Angel" truly reminds us why WW I was a war where the whole world was involved and victims were made all over the globe. The statue stands in front of the Town Hall in the centre of what is now known as the Mayor's Garden. Unfortunately the garden could benefit from some maintenance and cleaning, so typical signs of the decay in teh country.Written 6 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
