Just came back from amazing Botswana. I joined Acacia Africa's Delta, Chobe group on its 6th day when it reached Victoria Falls from Pretoria and before it left Zimbabwe for Botswana. This review will cover only the last 7 days of the tour.

There were 7 of us (plus our driver/guide, Sam), consisting of a young couple from New York City, a group of 4 adults from Brisbane, Australia, and myself (from San Diego, California). From the very first day together, we congealed as a group, very much like a family on a road trip to somewhere exciting, bound to have fun.

Our guide, Sam, was the best ever. He was an open book and we enjoyed and appreciated his candor. This led to us doing the same as we learned of various cultural practices where we grew up. It cultivated a sense of camaraderie, familiarity, caring and concern for one another. We grew fond of one another, in spite of our inherent individual traits. We had some profound discussions because we accepted that we were all intelligent individuals. And this sentiment remained throughout the next 7 days in Botswana. In short, I would define our small group "perfect," which is unique because very few tour groups can be that due to diverse and sometimes conflicting, personalities. I know because I'm an avid traveler and have a healthy touring experience with groups. Also, prior to joining the Botswana group, I was with another that started from Cape Town, through the garden route all the way to Greater Kruger. There just wasn't any basis of comparison between these two experiences.

Sam made sure that we knew what we were doing at all times, and we were not exposing ourselves to danger. He was protective all the way. For example, he was willing to abandon his morning shower, for instance, wrap a towel and run out, just to stop me from exploring the bush around our last lodging. That would have been very embarrassing. Also, he delivered my dinner when I couldn't join the group due to a severe eye allergy, in spite of me telling him that I could fetch the food myself. Since I got lost twice returning to my lodge from dinner, he patiently walked me to my room to make sure I made it there. Because, you see, I'm 78 years old and my faculties, he surmised, were kind of defective due to age. Of course he was wrong on that aspect.

Our wildlife explorations were ample and thrilling, which included the Chobe National Park, sunset boat ride on Chobe river, bush walks, Khama Rhino Sanctuary. What took my soul, really was the Okavango Delta. Though we roughed it out there a bit (slept in a tent one night, were told to keep the tent zipped the entire night and that under no circumstances do we get out of the tent at all). Needless to say, I didn't get a good sleep that night. But it was a notable experience.

The delta gave me a very distinct impression of the waterways and being transported by the polers from one end to the other, the surrounding serenity was etherial, a slice of heaven. I took out my cell and typed up a poem to memorialize the almost sacred perception. I read the poem to the group after our last dinner together. Two nights prior, I think, I had the honor of reading 2 of my other poems to which they patiently listened.

Altogether, I believe I came out a better person with my communion with the delta and Botswana, thanks so much for the small family that adopted me and Sam who took really good care of us. They are all my best friends forever, having shared a very special time together.

Profound gratitude to Acacia Africa for a well-tailored tour that showcased the gifts of Botswana to mankind, and for assigning Sam to sentinel our small group. Heartfelt thanks to Sam for announcing that our group was the best among the 12 he had run for 2024. I told him he would NOT likely have a better group than us, ever.

Cheers to Acacia Africa and Sam.

Helene and her team really looked after us and paid attention to every detail to make sure our trip was unforgettable.

From the calls in advance to go over everything and understand all of our wishes for the trip, then meeting us at the airport and introducing us to our most wonderful guide Joseph, then of course the adventure began and we went on the experience of a lifetime!

We were taken on daily tours of the bush, served great vegan meals every day, went on a dugout canoe ride, tried basket weaving and camped in the middle of the Moremi game reserve for multiple nights where we got to see these incredible animals living in their natural environment.

We saw lions, elephants, wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, wildebeest and more! Joseph is incredibly kind and knowledgable and was always teaching us things about the wildlife. It's hard to put into words, but these memories will stay with our family forever.

Thank you Helene, David, Joseph and team!

Professional service. The vehicle we rented was very powerful. We didn’t have any problem driving it in Chobe. Highly recommend this company!

We had the pleasure of Scotty taking us on a tour. He was absolutely amazing. He really made the effort to make it so special for us and picked an amazing spot to stop for a drink. He couldn’t have done more to really make it an incredible experience. We would highly recommend.

wilddogs and wildcats, a serval and we even saw a leopard. We saw many birds and learned a lot about the animals. The food was so good we all gained weight. The Service, the tents and the car were just perfect and Kemy managed everything in a very professional manner.

As a solo woman this was a fantastic way to travel, as I joined an existing group of two for the camping part of it, then travelled solo onto Kasane (Chobi National Park) and Victoria Falls where I stayed in hotels. Maria tailored the trip to meet my requirements and was efficient and courteous in answering my questions. The highlight for me was the camping as it is the best way to get up close with animals, but you must be prepared to 'rough it' a bit - camp bed and en-suite long drop toilet and bush shower (with hot water) - but all comfortable. The elephants came to us one night - I looked out my tent window and all I could see was elephant. The guide was dedicated in seeking out the animals and the three camp staff were efficient and friendly. The first night I slept on a mattress in the open at the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans - wow, what stars. Then two nights camping at a mobile camp in the Okavango Delta, a night R&R in Maun, then three nights camping in Moremi Game Reserve. The number and variety of animals and birds sighted exceeded my expectations. My favourite sighting was the pride of three lionesses with their eight cubs.

Letaka safaris are a credit to the safari tour world. Every detail taken care of and with brilliant staff. We had 9 days camping in Botswana with them and it couldn't have been more perfect. An amazing amount of animals close up in various locations. Our guide, Benjamin, was the best guide that we have had the pleasure to be with. His knowledge and ability to get us into the right positions for photography was excellent. We also had a photographic expert with us, Charlie Summers, who, I have to say was really good. We learnt a lot from him, but more than that, he was an affable and patient character. Happy to offer advice at every stage.

Safari Specialists are true professionals and did a fantastic job organizing our trip. Our consultant, Bronwyn, immediately understood what we were looking for and provided multiple great itineraries to choose from. As we had never been to Botswana before, it was really reassuring to rely on her expertise and recommendations. She was flexible and very responsive. I really liked being able to work with consultants who live in the country and have spent time at these locations and visiting the camps. While were were on the trip, we never had to worry about a thing. We joked that we were moved around like pieces of luggage, in the best way possible - we knew it was all taken care of, we were confident that all details were handled, and everything went like clockwork. Every pickup and dropoff was present and on-time, and the whole experience was seamless and tremendously well-organized. Really cannot recommend Safari Specialists enough!

Walking Stick tailor made our 13 day safari through Moremi, Khwai, Savuti and Chose National Park, including 2 nights Mokoro safari in a community area close to Moremi.
The email communication before the trip was always precise and the response time short.
Our guide was very experienced and patient who was luckily a great wildlife tracker. We had losts of wonderful sightings with liones, lion babies and leopards.
Our service crew (Truck driver, chef and camp site assistant) were very friendly and attentive. It was always nice after a day safari packed with great sightings, sat a the camp fire and sip a G&T. Sometime, an elephant or a small group of zebras was a just few steps behind the tent. We enjoyed our trip very much.
If you fancy the rustic way with mobile safari to explore the magnificent wildlife in Botswana, Walking Stick is an experienced and reliable local tour operator with good value.

I am very pleased with the tour I booked with Savanna Safaris & Tours. Emmelyn was my contact. She was very responsive to emails before and during the tour. The 2 week tour to Victoria Falls, 3 safaris camps in Botswana and Cape Town was very organized and went smoothly. This was very important for 2 females travelers. I would recommend Savanna Safaris to others and would not hesitate to use their services again.

This is the 2nd time I have booked my travel to Botswana through Roger, and although he knows I ‘know what I’m doing’, that doesn’t lessen his fanatic attention to detail in any way. Everything runs clockwork smooth. He is always answering the last minute questions, and often, after-hours. This trip, I was travelling with 3 others, but I often travel solo, and Roger knows exactly where and when to go as a solo female traveller within Botswana, and he also knows well the concerns of that ‘niche’ travel. I will not hesitate to recommend, and will use Safari Lifestyles again.

    3. Unmatched Wildlife Encounters
Botswana offers a wildlife experience like no other. We witnessed dramatic scenes—lions at sunset, elephants rushing to a waterhole, and a newborn buffalo calf taking its first steps. The diverse landscapes, from lush forests to the Kalahari’s sandy dunes, provide a dynamic backdrop for wildlife, making every safari drive feel like a live documentary.

    5. Cultural Immersion
Our cultural exchange with the San Bushmen deepened our understanding of Botswana’s history. The San’s knowledge of the Kalahari’s plants and animals is invaluable, and their storytelling during a walking tour gave us insight into their ancient way of life. Their deep connection to the land emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts.

    6. Culinary Delights
Dining in the bush was an experience in itself. From flame-grilled steaks to aromatic lamb tagines, every meal, prepared over an open fire, was a treat. Freshly baked bread, cakes, and pastries added a touch of luxury to our rustic surroundings.

    7. Adventure & Exploration
Our trip was filled with thrilling moments, from rugged safaris in mopane forests to peaceful mokoro rides on the Kwai River. The beauty of Botswana’s landscapes, with its vibrant dragonflies and medicinal plants, highlighted the harmony between nature and traditional knowledge.

    8. Modern Infrastructure & Amenities
Botswana’s tourism infrastructure is impressively developed, making it easy to access essential services. The well-maintained roads and convenient amenities along the route, including airlift medivac services, ensure both safety and comfort for travelers.

    9. Sustainability & Conservation
Bush Ways is committed to responsible tourism, prioritizing sustainability through eco-friendly practices and supporting local conservation efforts. Their approach ensures that Botswana’s natural beauty remains preserved for future generations.

    10. Prime Locations
Whether camping or staying in luxury lodges, every location we visited was perfectly chosen for maximum wildlife encounters and stunning vistas. From sunrise to sunset, every moment offered breathtaking views, making the experience even more magical.

In conclusion, this Botswana adventure with Bush Ways Safaris was a perfect blend of luxury, adventure, and cultural immersion. It is a destination that not only showcases the incredible beauty of nature but also empowers local communities and champions sustainability. It’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left.

Our 10-day safari with Tony Mobile Safari in Botswana was amazing! It was the first time the five of us visited Botswana. Tony was super knowledgeable and had such a positive, go-with-the-flow attitude. He was really kind and cared deeply for the animals, which made the experience even better. Our chef Ben cooked incredible meals—seriously, we didn’t feel like we were in the jungle at all! They made sure that we were safe. The mobile tents were spacious with an attached bathroom. It was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience! We had the best time, enjoying the wildlife and great company. We definitely hope to come back for another adventure with Tony Mobile Safari.
