Smailholm Tower

The custodian was very friendly and helpful and there is a nice little guide book and interesting exhibition showing the finds from archaeological excavation of the site.
Well worth the short but steep climb from the car park for the history, the Sir Walter Scott connection and especially the views from the balcony.
Floors Castle

Within the grounds of the castle there is a walled garden, a picnic spot, beautiful views over the Tweed river and Cheviot hills, a garden centre and a terrace café & restaurant in a courtyard.
