- Dewald RCape Town Central, South Africa2Â 065 contributionsIn the heart of Stellenbosch you will find the Stellenbosch University Botantical Gardens. The diverse vegetation in the gardens is amazing and there are numerous paths exploring different areas spread throughout where you can take in the beauty, learn about the different plant species and even bring a picnic to enjoy there. When we visited the entrance fee was R 15.00 per person which is very budget friendly and as they are open every day of the week, excluding certain public holidays, there is no reason to not visit even just for a quick walk around. The Katjiepiering Restaurant (reviewed separately) is also located within the garden and is a good option to grab breakfast or brunch. Whether you are a couple wanting to go for a romantic walk, a family with kids or even on your own, this is a great place to spend some time and take in the natural surroundings.Written 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

You can either sit out on the deck overlooking the Vineyard and Stellenbosch or inside by the fire place. Its situated along the hidden valley wine route- have been here 3 times and will def visit again!Written 6 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- TrudiCenturion, South Africa440 contributionsIf you looking for a child, pet and most definitely human friendly environment, to chill and just breath....
Then Blaauklippen is a must.
Their milk tart is where I have to begin...there are no words just taste sensations!!!! Yes, yes I know it is a wine estate, and they do offer a good selection of wines. But their little cafe serves the most delicious milk tart, amongst other dishes!
Their facilities offer a variety of things to do on the weekend.
We start at the coffee shop and then work our way down to the wine tasting!!!
You can host your birthday parties, browse through their market, do wine or gin tasting and then also eat at the Bistro.
Booking at the Bistro is recommended.
Staff in all areas are very friendly and helpful.
Another must is their Zin Gin...every time our daughter fly's home she has to bring 3 bottles with her!!!!
Blaauklippen is an experience not to be missed, surrounded by beautiful vineyards.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - RoadTripper143Somerset West, South Africa36 contributionsWe enjoyed a fabulous wine tasting with friends. - Micayla HJohannesburg, South Africa4 contributionsWe went to do the chocolate and wine tasting. It was a fantastic experience and a very detailed and delicious pairing with dessert wines. We also asked to taste the wooded Chardonnay as this is our favourite wine. We bought a bottle, and we weren't charged for the tasting. It is also an incredibly beautiful venue and you can take pretty photos there. It is a must if you're making your way to Stellenbosch.Written 29 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- RalphDillEdgemead, South Africa49 contributionsThis is an unassuming yet hugely rewarding spot to park your car! The eyes struggle to "find" the exceptional right until you step onto the verandah! Then the expanse of rolling hills, vinyards and orchards allow your eyes a feast. Service may be staccato and the platter comparatively simple, but the ordinary ends right there. The wines are just indescribably good, the Sauvignon Blanc took my breath away, and I am no novice, despite no expert at white wines. The tasting moved to the reds, more my thing... Holy cow, extraordinary wine. I am 63 and a single malt junkie, hoping my palate is fairly educated. I was close to tears at the end, emotional about how awesome ALL the reds are. Shiraz, Pinot, Merlot (2008, I don't normally drink Merlot) even, astonishing. The top blend, I already forget it's name, simply beggar's belief. Rounded, rich, complex, fruity, spicy... not possible? Wrong. Don't go there to be spoilt by grandiose surroundings and fancy dressed help, don't go there for the best platter. Go there for the right reason, the best wine you will taste in a very long time!Written 16 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alan SFourways, South Africa312 contributionsGreat street to walk along, but certainly not the only one. Include Church and Bird, and the side streets for a truly "European" setting. Many café's and wine bars to visit between shopping.Written 22 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- StuJen_13Edinburgh, UK72 contributionsWent here at the suggestion of the driver we had (Kestrel Executive Services). It has a great but very busy cafe but we opted just to have our wine tasting on the deck in the middle of the lake. What a beautiful setting, with the lake surrounded by the mountains. After the wine tasting you can go for a walk around the lake and watch the fish. Truly exceptional venue.Written 13 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- NoneotherLondon34 contributionsYou can sit in the tasting room with panoramic vineyard views and taste the wines the estate is famous for.
