What travellers are saying
- tannietweeCaterham, UK56 contributionsThe gardens are beautiful. So many different textures and the way that they have been sculpted in places leaves you wondering how they did it. The sculptures are magnificent and when you look at them from different angles you get a different interpretation each time. The walk is only only 2km long and it is up and down but it is not too taxing as long as you are mobile. It is a great place to sit and contemplate as the views are just stunning. I would love to go back if we are in the area again.Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alan SFourways, South Africa312 contributionsGreat street to walk along, but certainly not the only one. Include Church and Bird, and the side streets for a truly "European" setting. Many café's and wine bars to visit between shopping.Written 22 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Bergs401Greater Johannesburg, South Africa95 contributionsA very fun and enjoyable family outing - the quality of the strawberries are top class and its very affordable. Bonus is that you can have a picnic here as well.Written 23 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Klaus GPretoria, South Africa1Â 072 contributionsFrom the outside the church and its architecture is already impressive, but it is the inside with its windows and wood work and furniture that round off the picture. And the church is still used every Sunday.Written 14 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Cc5 contributionsWe booked the 'soccer field' venue for a birthday braai and had a great day. It's so peaceful and we had the area all to ourselves. It was extremely hot on the day but there was great shade and the big fig tree is amazing so we were able to stay nice and cool. We were also provided with ample chairs and tables to use. Will definitely book again in future for a big braai with friends and familyWritten 7 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Daydream81274017 contributionsThis lovely old church is in the centre of town, and gives the visitor a flavor of times gone by. The property is quite pretty, and the view up to the surrounding mountains is photo worthy!Written 13 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Charmel FGreater Johannesburg, South Africa3 contributionsWe visited Huckleberry for the day; we phoned in advance to book a spot. The restrooms are clean, the staff very friendly, and there are sufficient space and activities to keep the little ones busy.Written 9 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- finesilverDenver, CO2Â 353 contributionsGreat photo ops at this Church, there is the Church itself and a stand of bells too which make for great photos. The Church is white, as are the bell stands. I read that this place is from the 19th Century and is an early example of the Christian religion in this small town. There are two main Churches in this town, this is one of them, both are worth seeing by the way and are a few blocks from each other.
This place is across from a field which has some history of its own, the Church is worth a quick visit if in Stellenbosch.Written 15 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Donald1 contributionI had my 50th Birthday Party in the private cellar at Goede Hoop last Friday evening and it was a truly wonderful experience. A four course dinner cooked by the great chefs from the Hot Skillet in Cape Town combined with a full wine pairing (each couple are allowed to choose a bottle from the exclusive collection) with the guidance of Johan - the owner's son - is really to be recommenced if you are a foodie and wine fan. The farm is as authentic as it gets - if you are looking for stainless steel, glass and fancy artworks this is not for you - but if you want a real experience and to scratch below the surface of a real working wine farm then this will not disappoint. Thanks again to Johan , Pieter and team for a wonderful evening.Written 12 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- KFoutchOklahoma City, OK27 contributionsWe found out about this place from friends who had visited before. Absolutely worth the stop! I didn't know much of anything about olive oils, but know I am so well-informed. It is run by Birgitta and Arend Hofmeyr. Birgitta spent nearly 2 hours with us teaching us about olive oils and doing tastings (she is an official taster). Very fascinating! The tasting take place on the back porch of their own home, and the view of the olive orchard in their backyard is beautiful. This was an incredible experience, and I would absolutely recommend!Written 28 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- RschagrinDelray Beach, FL11Â 928 contributionsMoederkerk means Mother Church in Afrikaans and this is a Dutch Reformed church.
This impressive building with a Neo Gothic Tower was designed by, Carl Otto Hager, from Dresden in Germany and was completely in 1863.Written 5 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Nicholas HLondon, UK20Â 576 contributionsThis imposing bronze statue's full title is Old Mac Digging for Happiness. It was created by Madge and George Lang in 1965, as a life size copy of their original 1956 desk scuplture. The story goes that it has been moved several times, ending up in its present location in Stellenbosch in 2014 from its previous location in central Johannesburg. It's a fun statue, with an amusing and thoughtful information plaque near its base. Worth tracking down if you're in Stellenbosch.Written 1 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
