What travellers are saying
- October97St. Andrews, UK96 contributionsAn interesting way to spend a couple of hours during the holidays. We were presented with six cubes of cheese, all locally produced, with a range of flavour profiles. There were accompanied by a glass of delicious, sparkling fruit & rooibos infusion. Our knowledgeable host talked us through the selection, giving us time to sample each one.
The only disappointment was with the reception staff who appeared rather nonchalant about booking in guests, with the result that it required several visits to the desk and conversations with a different staff member to make it happen!Written 9 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Amazing!!
But you should go for the tasting.
Confectionery and Premium!!
Jermaine aka Choc Norris is a real showman, funny, dynamic, you wont get bored.

So we decided to go back this year on our own time and appreciate it a bit better.
Best idea ever! A general tip, try visiting the wine farms during week days when they’re not as busy as the hectic weekends.
Anyway, we had the pleasure of the lovely Shandra looking after us. She took so much time going through the various wines available for tasting and once she realised we were a little bit above and beyond the basic level of interest she treated us to some of their exclusive reserve wines. Which are absolutely outstanding. Outside of the tasting ranges we got to taste the Grand Plaisir red 2020 and the Grand Plaisir red 2015 - absolutely amazing! 🍷💯
And then we had some food. - the best burger ever!Written 17 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food was excellent but there were 2 standout features our waiter Anthony, who guided us through the wine tasting and lunch and the Sous Chef. By far the best desserts we have had on our foody 4 weeks in SA. 😋Written 6 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PopupTravellerSouth Africa262 contributionsBeautiful setting where Table Mountain also makes a surprise appearance! Beautifully maintained, clean and serene with ample garden walks and picnic spots to sit and enjoy the stunning views, abundant bird life and collection of flora. Little coffee shop on site. We'll worth the R40 per adult to visit! Wheelchair friendly.Written 20 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AndyP1998Wakefield, UK1 095 contributionsUtterly informative tour. This centre is all about getting cheetahs back into the wild albeit some of their residents have genetic issues so can’t be released.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VeroniqueCape Town, South Africa797 contributionsIt is the 3rd time that I go to Backsberg for their summer concerts.
Bottomless was very good, as always...
The pre-artist was very excellent as well. i'll follow her.
My only comment I would make is regarding the time of the show indicated on the ticket (3pm), while the show really started at 4pm...
We rushed to be there on time and at the end, we had to wait for an hour...Written 18 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The setting is spectacular and gardens are a delight. Lunch was unhurried and the service was very knowledgeable but also lovely and friendly. Food was exceptional and we tried a range of their wines which we really enjoyed. We even had a tour of the cellar after lunch which was fascinating. Don’t miss wining and dining here, it’s a gem.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hilton TaitCape Town, South Africa561 contributionsGreat food, great wine and great setting all line up to give a Great Italian experience.
Loved the locally produced Italian style wines and the restaurant serves authentic Italian food. The Saltimbocca was very good as was the wife's artichoke risotto.

The staff are amazing, the views stunning. This place is off the beaten track, but one of the best i’ve ever been to, finding it made the trip!Written 1 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jmbryantSouthampton, UK124 contributionsThis vineyard has several exceptional wines, including a white pinotage which is, as far as I know, the only one available for sale (several vineyards make them for blending). Their Seraphic is an affordable white blend which just suits my taste and is ideal for quaffing*.
Their lunches are excellent, too.
* According to Sir Terry Pratchett quaffing is very like drinking, but you spill more.Written 21 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
